Tsk tsk tsk. Hehehe, I was referring to shutting down the paper. Ah well. |
Don't try and backtrack.. it's very easy to trace your trail of bullshit! Even the complete morons who post here can see that! |

Oh, and one other thing, when one gets the other to start to froth at the mouth and curse, the first one wins. I won this round. Hehehehe. Go back to MySpace. Have fun there. |
Rules? There are no rules. I don't believe in rules. In fact I may just switch my position in here to demonstrate that. |

Dude you are a funny, funny guy. I have been amused at your antics trying to be intelligent. Next time take off your pointed hat. People get confused when they see it. They might think you are from the KKK. Hehehehe |
There's nothing wrong with the KKK. They're only a special interest group expressing their positions and not all their positions are wrong. |

Well said Pab, very well said. |
Let's get this out of the way first - I AM NOT A LEFTIST. I am a 'classic' liberal in the sense that I advocate conservative (free market) economic stances and advocate social freedoms and limited government. I am not a leftist and I would not associate myself with the lunatics who hang out at Berkeley. But if the government were to come and declare a military dictatorship, I would be the first one to pick up an assault rifle and start fighting back. M'kay? Trying to define "good journalism" or "poor journalism" is so absurdly arbitrary that I'm not even going to bother getting into that argument. That's a fight I can't win, and it's a fight I don't care about. The only relevant fact here is that the students had the legal right to print what they did. Was the photo childish and tasteless? Probably. But printing tasteless material is not automatically illegal. Had that picture started a riot on campus, then they absolutely would have deserved to be shut down (go back to my original post on page 4 on what is legal and what isn't). But simply advocating a position on an inflammatory issue doesn't warrant removing the paper altogether. Editorials are, by definition, slanted and one-sided. I'm a classic liberal. The government (principal) is intervening for the wrong stated reasons. I don't like that. I don't necessarily advocate what the students said, but I do advocate their right to say it. This entire discussion has been Flag-Burning Good vs. Flag-Burning Bad. I'm using insults because that seems to be the best way of provoking some discussion on the issue that really needs to be discussed: the freedom of press as it applies to students. The morals of flag burning are totally irrelevant to this. |

Dumb question, Why should students under the age of eighteen have anything but limited rights? |

The constitution does not set minimum age limits on your rights. As adults we are given more responsibilities and freedoms, but the basic rights are there from birth. The GOVERNMENT cannot abridge any of your rights... parents/teachers can however. |
Come back when you learn how to make a valid argument. Something aside from ad hominem, that is. |

Nope dude, they cannot vote until eighteen and are theoretically not allowed to drink until twenty one. It is because of diminshed capacity. |

Some one wrote maybe yesterday "Those kids are journalism students and as such are supposed to be learning the profession. I think what the principal did was right. Not a ONE of these punk kids are journalists, therefore this should be a good lesson for those that choose to pursue a career in that field." NOW with that said what happens next year to the newspaper? There can be no Rebuttals from journalism students who believe this topic and pictures were wrong. There will also be no news of what great kids the school has going there or whats going like in sports, theater, ect. By shutting down the paper made it so there is no news and thats a shame thats whats in future for our country slowly its hapening little at a time.
