How sad for California's citizen children. Arnold cannot stop the vicious anti citizen Hate Machine who dominate the Legislature in Sacramento.

The Enemies of California and our families are too strong and too devious for the citizens to have a chance.

Any other State which faced a $42 Billion dollar deficit predicated on pure waste and extravagance by thoughtless politicians would throw them all out of Office.

Why are we so much stupider and so much more self destructive than citizens in all of the other States??????????

Our children are just beginning to feel the effect of our disasterous political decisions. In a few short years, it will kill any chance for them to have a shot at a decent American future if they stay in California.

A savings if the state considers changing to a 35 hour work week instead of keeping the 40 hour work week. Pleae dont call it EVTO ( employee voluntary time off ) both civil servant and state benefit from this type of change if Im not mistaken 35hr work week is still considered full time which means for the full time employed civil servant your benefits are not affected, your taxed less, and you will have more quality of life with your family. The State, the local level govt should look into cost which are beneficial, our tax dollars pay top dollar for all depts to have accounting and budget analyst that need to do the math and figure that this is a good plan with savings for each individual govt entity which also can help with the budget. Laying off should be the last resort for a govt that is trying to stimulate the economy and cutting jobs is not the right direction. You have thousands upon thousands of civil servants and when you multiply the hours not being used the money, the funds, the budget will be to some extent ratified. For some this is easier said than done but then what other alternatives are their without the layoffs. Keep America working. Dont forget a 40 hr work week is a fad that maybe we in this nation need to change to help level off the economy. And the unions also need to help they also have a headquarters with a staff of accountants and budget analysts. Help from every person that can be affected you need to participate. Help find solutions. Dont fight, work together for a solution. IF we in California can figure a way to stimulate the economy then we can be the pioneers to fixing the failing economy in our nation. Lets quit pointing fingers at each other, if we dont stand together then we are very responsible for what lays ahead only if we choose not to resolve. Put aside our differences so we can have this Great State of California back on its feets. Republican, Democrat, Independent we are not going to stand and watch ourselves fail are we?

We MUST insist on CHANGE. We voted in support of Obama as a testiment to our desire to put America back on track. The State pols have far more of an impact on our families.

Almost every night, the media is revealing the historic failures wrought on California by the diabolical, Sacramento legislative majority to citizens around the Nation. The citizens are stunned that our once top rated State has been so poorly led that we are fast becoming a disaster by most every measure. American Democrats are stunned and ashamed when they here the devastation is at the hands of what passes for a Democratic Party in our State.

If not for Unions we would be in a Caste system,Not based on religion, but based on money. In the 50's, the great time of American prosperity 35% of American work force was Union. today it's under 9%. If the Bosses had their way, EVERYONE would be making under $10.00 an hr. It's not the unions or the Members fault that Greed and ingorance has trashed America and our economy.

Unionslugs- your so ignorant to the reality of the economy it's astounding. do a little research you ignorant clown.

Well said.

When I was growing up, my dad argued to me that one of the reasons communism didn't sweep up the United States (much like it had swept up many other countries and had strong proponents here) was because sensible centrism was offered here in the form of trade unions.

Unions defeated communism.

trade unions defeated communism? but we dont have trade unions anymore. "look for the union label" no longer advocates quality and pride but is a true warning for high prices and low quality.
Our current trade unions are truly socialist, creating a worker's paradise and working as well as the old USSR.
The reason union membership is down from 35% is that many of those industries have moved offshore, no longer able to compete globally. Even steelmakers, with strong import restrictions, were unable to compete because they had high wages, broad benefits and retirement, complex workrules creating over 27 worker classifications that limited productivity, and limits of mechanization ( or anything else that could reduce the number of workers). The steel industry bankruptcys led to a much smaller industry, still union, but with reduced pay, benefits, worker classifications and higher mechanization. Even if the big 3 dont go bankrupt, look for their size to shrink in half along with the jobs, and those jobs to pay less.
Greed and ignorance is typical of management, both company and union.

I've read much history regarding Unions. Greed was not the motivation for those who founded the Union movement.

Unions were not meant to be a force for Evil or a weapon used to destroy our children's future.

That is only the recent record of Unions.

Bull crap. Unions are under assault now more than ever. Now more than ever we need a strong union movement. Just because the executives and big business owners took salaries and benefits raping the entire system of its wealth do not blame the unions. The union employees don't take home millions and millions and secret away that much and more in their off shore accounts to get around our tax laws. Just like the logging industry ran out of old growth redwood trees to cut down, the capitalist system has run out of cash because it has been mismanaged. Not the union's fault.
Unions are worthless and you know it. You benefit from them so you want them. They are ruining many industries.

Oh contrare mmcguire unions are not worthless. One example...if there were no unions setting the unions scale in wages the business owners would have a new maximum wage for their industry standard.

You want all companies to stack their wages and benefits up against Wallmart's style of pay and benefits in say the grocery industry? You probably would, but there are lots of union families that would have their pay cut in half.

We know down at our shop that we are the union. Its not the company, the employees, and the union. We make things happen because we are the union and we stick together.

Luckily for the Unions, Calif. democratic voters are the stupidest, most self destructive citizens in America. Our proven ignorance is Bliss for the Union/Party cabal which is tearing our State to shreds.

This is an excerpt from an editorial by Tony Dolz published in the Daily News Blaze. ALL unions MUST be abolished!!! Union leaders are nothing but thugs but they are the biggest campaign donors. I remember seeing one of the heads of the Auto Workers Union standing down at the Mexican border on the first day that the pilot Mexican truck program started. As the trucks started crossing the Mexican border, this guy was stopping all of them and trying to get them to join the union! It was despicable!

"Bank on California" Money Laundering Scheme May Bankrupt California
By Tony Dolz

"The SEIU gave the Democrat Party $26,849,872 or 96% of their contributions in 2007. That makes the SEIU the 8th largest lobbying group in the United States and California. The SEIU openly lobbies for open borders, illegal alien "rights", and illegal alien SEIU union membership. Isn't it ironic that the SEIU recruits illegal aliens into the union, when those illegal aliens do not have the right to work in the United States? Any politician, like Governor Schwarzenegger, must lock step with the SEIU if they want to get on their political contribution gravy train."

Excellent point, Sean. My father was a Teamster member in the 60's and there was an even playing field in those days. That was BEFORE the invasion of all the illegal aliens.

Thankfully, today's Californian's have proven to be too stupid to handle self government.

The Unions in partnership with the other enemies of the citizens of the State....ala the State Democratic Party...... will not stop until our State is the least among the 50.

No States citizens are less worthy of their citizenship and it shows.

At least we have shown citizens around the Nation the result of complete political stupidity which took us so far down by most every measure.
