It is even more interesting the way Cambodia treated its closest neighbors, Vietnam and Thailand.

This 2 billion project is just not making sense.
1. Cambodia's economy is just too weak to absorb the amount of steel produced from this 2-billion-US-dollar plant. Imagine Vietnam's economy with the size of 10 times Cambodia getting a 20-billion-US-dollar! The amount of steel will totally flood the market.
2. It is nonsense to think about exporting the steel when you have to import electricity to produce the steel.
3. There are a lot of other opportunity to invest in Cambodia, such as the light industry to process food, tourism. Do that first to get the size before doing any steel project.
On the other hand, it's better than nothing. I am sure Mr. Hun Sen is doing all he can. He will get whatever comes his way. I just hope that the debt to China will not sink Cambodia. I am sure Mr. Hun Sen knows what he is doing.
