18th month journey arround the world?
Bruno Peyron did it in just 50 days with a wind powered ship.

You don't build a 100 foot long, 50 foot wide yacht to beat speed records. It was built for COMFORT, not for speed. It can accomodate up to fifty people and he probably parties for days at each stop.
Nor did he CLAIM to be trying to race it. It isn't even powered for a race, as it claims a cruising speed of eight knots, top speed of fifteen knots with 5 days of battery reserve at lower power (6 knots?).
To race, you would upsize the motors by about four times and plot the race to take you away from weather systems or use more and lighter batteries (lithium polymer for a guess).
Again, Fix it has a post about nothing but his own delusional state.

So if speed is not important than what was the point of the thing anyway. It's no more luxurious than a normal yacht, but its slower. Its also slower than a normal freighter or even a sailboat, and more expensive than both combined.
It's just more pointless green eye candy for people with more money than sense.
