You miss the point: It has nothing to do with who runs against him and everything to do with him giving them free stuff at the expense of others who work for theirs. It wouldn't matter who ran against that.

That's not the issue...Lincoln couldn't get elected in Columbus. The factor is demographics...the city is 30% black (even NYC is only 20%) and 10% foreign born. That's a win for any Democrat.
