Yes, but are we so gutless as to throw away our freedoms? Destroying these freedoms means the terrorists win.

You must weigh the counter balances. These are very unique times, unlike anything that we have experianced. The goal of the jihadists is world domination under islamic law. It is their religious war against us. It is not a political war. Unique times sometimes mean unique measures to counter their war against us. This is the new reality. Accept it and fight them, or not accept the new reality and lose. Remember, that they attack and kill innocent people and not uniformed military troops.

There is nothing unique about our times. This has been going on for hundreds, even thousands of years. Ever hear about a little struggle called "The Crusades". The only difference is the technology to take the fight further, faster and more destructive.

However, the Crusades did stop. Most of the lands like Europe, etc. that were conquered by the islamists were retaken and borders established into independant countries. The Christians evolved to non-violence teachings. The moslems never stopped in their desire to control the whole world under islam law. In that context, the moslems have continued the crusades like an evil cancer. It is their religious war, not a political war. We have not fought an imposed religious war in many, many hundreds of years. Certainly not in the life time of America or the modern world. In this context, it is unique to us.

And that is why we teach history, and teaching is provided so that we can learn. The problem is that a person can learn, but people remain ignorant. If only we could learn from history, we might be able to stop it repeating again and again and again! And it would also appear that men in power don't give a rats arse about history unless they are part of it.

Somebody once said "the world is a wonderful place, and worth fighting for". when you look at some of the horrors, the world aint all that wonderful...and all we EVER do is fight!

Just imagine how many healthier people there would be in the US if Bush could put $80 billion dollars a year into medical facilities instead of defense funding. What a horror!!! all the insurance companies would have to suck the blood from something else.

Or if Putin placed his new 300 billion dollar military budget in the hands of the majority of the Russians, the low income level. How about Putin giving it to little towns of 20,000 so they can at least buy their first fire truck and ambulance. Instead of in the big cities ? Maybe even build a new hospital instead of going to the regional 8 room medical facility 60 miles away. Get real. Get real idiot. Bush did not create this world. It is idiots like you that created it, Intellectuals to solve it, and geniuses to prevent such a thing from occurring in the first place. This is a genius to Idiot talk. Class is out. Reality is in.

Very simple! You always put the slant on America and Bush. Just Offered a bigger picture of another dangerous threat. Hmmmm....300 billion dollars is not 80 billion dollars for military, now is it? Anyhow, thats a lot of military overkill by putin just to upgrade his military isn't it?

That’s 300 billion rubles or about 11.22 billion US dollars.

And what part of the GNP is that compared to that of the U. S. and what was the Russian military budget last year, and the year before that? More then what is needed to replace old equipment and for defence.

You seem more likely to throw stupid questions (the answers to which you seem totally ignorant) rather than have the necessary insight to enter into an actual debate by also throwing out answers, I was merely replying to your blatant attempt to twist and distort the information by referring to the Russian military expenditures in dollars rather than in Rubles, which changed 300000000 into 11220000, quiet a massive difference I would say.

Military expenditure as a percent of GDP USA %4.06 Russia %5.11(apparently, it varies slightly depending on source) and yes Russia’s military expenditure has increased, as has their economy, so as their economy expands they collect more tax dollars and have more to spend,(I have to remind myself I’m talking to an idiot).

Yes they spend money on their military; they are surrounded by potential enemies, peoples who have many times in the past brought mass slaughter and destruction to their country.

My question to you is why does the US have a larger military budget than the rest of the world combined? Should we be worried about a potential US lebensraum, world domination? Why does the US need such a ridiculously large defence force; to guard against the Mexicans and Canadians?

Sounds suspicious to me.

Well, taken in the context of Russia's unique mindset of world domination because of arrogance, the whole world is against them. Being paranoid , they see enemies everywhere.(I have to remind myself that I am talking to a soviet immigrant). Aussis Land takes good care of you, eh! The Russkies could spend their money internally to at least build up necessary services to their small towns and villages. Other than militant moslems, they have no threat against them. They are not defensive, they are going offensive for power and to reclaim their spere of soviet influence lossed because of democracy.

The Russians are just like every other government in the world. They couldn't give a rats arse about the common people. I am just curious as to how the most disorganised culture in the world managed to maintain the largest country in the world!

And if I want to point my bias towrds America, I have every right to. But I was simply using it as an example. But if you want to engage in pointless arguments, go right ahead, it seems you have nothing better to argue about.

Russia had 28000000 dead from WWII and18000000 wounded and you think the only reason to be paranoid is your overblown “unique mindset of world domination” BS, they are surrounded by potential enemies who out number them and quite a few who have attacked them in the past.

What threats does the USA have to guard against other than a few militant Muslims?

Why does your country need a bigger military budget than the rest of the world combined?

“Russia's unique mindset of world domination because of arrogance” reminds me of the USA and its not so unique mindset of world domination because of arrogance

“influence lossed because of democracy” Do a little reading on some democracies lost due to US actions.
