Stuff him. They should revoke his visa just for being related to that other piece of shiite,who happened to have Haneef's SIM card in his phone. Don't you find that highly unusual? People just don't "lend" their sim cards. F@ck him, the law is tough on it for a very good reason. He's been vindicated and cleared his name, if he needs legal fees covered, well fair enough. But a compo pay out for being a suspect? HAh! What scares me is he'll probably friggin get it, since his lawyer is so good.
