A posse of gun-toting revellers from a VIP wedding party have been arrested by police in Moscow, Russia, after talking potshots at other drivers as they paraded around the city in a procession of Ferraris, Porsches and BMWs.

The wedding party - from oil rich Dagestan in Russia's remote North Caucasus - is said to have blasted any cars that tried to overtake their convoy and fired off warning shots at passers by who were not waving at them.

A heavily armed police assault team eventually stopped the cars in the shadow of the Kremlin and arrested 15 of the party-goers.

The groom Stanislav Bazhenov said: "I don't know why they detained us. Someone did not like how we were driving. I wonder what this all farce is about."

"Moscow is a big city. On our way we met three other wedding processions. Probably we have been confused with somebody else," he added.

Police say they confiscated a cache of firearms from the vehicles and are checking to see if any of them are held legally.

In Dagestan there is a tradition for wedding guests to celebrate by firing guns into the air.

"People were just shooting to celebrate the wedding.

"It is also considered disrespectful to try to overtake a wedding procession so people got quite angry at that," explained one guest.

Either he'd have shot himself in the foot or someone would have shot his ass full of buckshot like his neighbor did.
