russia has no option but to protect itself. if you were russia you will do the same. russia is being punished because it opted not to tow the line with those who see the US as the master of the planet. all those missile shields and provocation of war in georgia are US prelude to destroy russia. it is just right that the US will see some launchers being move near its border because sooner or later especially when geogia and ukraine become NATO members and have acquired US missiles definitely they will attack russia.
Remember what US americans did in the philippines 1898-1910
And what did USA do in Laos between 1964-1973 ?
The americans love it to kill millions of innocents and support very cruel dictators who are their puppets

Yes. And now the Native American tribal goverments are twice as wealthy and efficient as the U.S. Federal Government thanks to the thousands of casinos - and the overweight greedy folks that spend most of their non-working hours there.

I was referring more to the actual tribal governments themselves, not a political action organization. For example, the Creek (Muscogee) Nation takes a lot of their profits, and use them to do improvements to roads, power lines, and other infrastructure - and not just things on Native American land either. We tried to petition the county government to fix the road out in front of my parent's house in the country for ten years, and nothing ever happened. The Creek Nation came along and offered to pave it, no questions asked. No sales tax issues, no waiting for government to get moving - they just up and got it done.

Spasiba anyway.

200 years ago we were being "controlled" by Great Britain. Nobody would have thought it possible that we could have broken away from them and started a new country. Of course, the same analogy doesn't hold as true today because of the length of time it took back then to move troops and supplies across the Atlantic. Something to think about...
I'll go back to a quote by one of my heroes, Albert Einstein: "I know not with what weapons World War III would be fought, but World War IV would be fought with rocks." We must never abandon diplomacy. And I don't think we should spite the Russians for doing this. I think they wanted to show the world that they don't take marching orders from Washington...and that they can still put boot to ass should the need arise. I think the last thing we need is a Cold War mentality on either side. This needs to be resolved, and quickly. If the Ossetian provinces wish to be Russian, then they should be Russian.
Well stated, I pretty much agree.
