Apr 16, 2014 Full story: EDGE 58

One of Russia's lawmakers who helped create the infamous "homosexual propaganda" bill, which was signed into law by President Vladimir Putin last summer, is now urging for all gay clubs and LGBT social media pages to be banned, Gay Star News reports.

But where will Putin go then to find his beloved leatherboys?

Oh! The RUSSIAN ARMY, of course!

They like to sing "I'll never leave my buddy's behind!" when on drunken marches!

Vitaly Milonov, who represents St. Petersburg in the Legislative Assembly, said that LGBT bars and dance clubs are "destroying Russia" and that they must be banned in order to "rid the country of evil."

Why should bars which openly discriminate against normal people be permitted anyway?

But should they do so for repressed homosexual morons with a hard-on for Putin so BIG their hero-worship makes them claim that "Putin ended the Soviet Union and then got bad economic advice from the West" as you just did on the other thread?

What was Russia's 20th century history? I seem to remember the German Kaiser weakening the Russian Empire through war and then smuggling Lenin into Saint Petersburg and installing a communist puppet state there. Western communists dominated the country until Putin declared the Soviet Union kaput. Then unfortunately he listened to the advise of western economists.

For pretty much the entire 20th century the Russians were under the influence of western political and economic influences.

Oh, I get it.

You're hiding in shame over the obvious accuracy of the "hard-on for Putin" bit.

Sorry it was so accurate.

We Canadians are polite, you see.

But we DO enjoy a good laugh at a backwards, crude simpleton as much as the next fellow!

That guy in the photo has more fake blonde highlights in his hair than the worst Quizzo playing twink at your local, neighborhood, gay sports bar.

Uh, not that there's anything wrong with that. Unless you're a professional homophobe.

Ad Putin, former Communist Party member, and former KGB agent, is as bad as Hitler.

When Hitler invaded Poland, France and Great Britain declared war on Germany. But the U.S. and it's European allies have done nothing now that Putin has invaded Ukraine and seized the Crimea. And he will probably seize the rest of Ukraine soon, despite a treaty signed by Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine that guaranteed that Ukraine's borders would be respected by all.

So why have France, Great Britain, and the other European countries not reacted similarly to Putin as they did to Hitler ? And if there is no reaction from the U.S. And it's allies to Putin's invasion and annexation of Ukraine, then why should he stop there ? All of Europe is at risk, particularly the independent nations that were once part of the old USSR. Why he should stop at Ukraine if nobody is going to stop him ?

If Putin is as smart and able as I think he is, he will become Russia's longest-ruling dictator of the past 150 years. Who's going to stop him ?

It just shows their unbelievable ignorance that they believe that they're gaining anything with all this anti-gay stuff. They're just delusional. There will be some temporary political gains, but this type of thing never goes well in the long-run. It always blows up in their faces.

Homophobs are everywhere, they are just very closed minded people and only think of themselves and what the world can offer them. I have walked into a gay bar and my only thought was they had great music and the duelling pianos was the best I had seen (in the Florida Keys), personally the Russians can learn from the gays to lighten up and change some colors, green is getting very tiring. BTW, it is not ALL Russians that feel this way about gays, just some vocal few in the communist club with Putin

What IS scary, though, is that what's happening to the gay folks in Russia right now closely mirrors what happened to the Jews in 1930's Germany.

The two situations are very similar right down to the problems being caused by a handful of political opportunists while most regular citizens don't really care one way or the other how the oppressed minority groups are treated because they're too busy trying not to starve to death to worry about minority rights.

Then all of a sudden, whammo!! The success of the oppression quickly becomes a thirst for massive power and wealth and the desire to rule the world isn't far behind.... I could certainly see Putin thinking he could take over the world, one country at a time. He's certainly arrogant and narcissistic enough to think it.

Yes, they do have excellent clubs! I used to live in Vancouver's West End when younger and I still have many gay friends.

In Canada, we do not fear gay people; they are just people who want to live in a different way that harms nobody. In Canada, gay people enjoy full legal equality, including the right to marry, and attacks on them are considered fascist hate crimes that carry heavy penalties. What is wrong with treating people decently?

Yes. Apparently today the Russo-Fascist terrorists in Eastern Ukraine are demanding the Jews there "register" and declare all their property......

I agree. Good post.

Hitler invaded and Austria and the world did nothing.

Hitler invaded Czechoslovakia d he world did nothing.

Hitler invaded Poland, and as a result the world was plunged into a blood world war that lasted for years.

Putin invaded Georgia and the world did nothing.

Putin invaded and annexed the Crimea and the world did nothing.

Now Putin has invaded Ukraine. Will the world do nothing again ?
