RF does not recognize Holodomor as genocide in Ukraine

On 7 November 2003, twenty five member countries and since then fourteen more --signed directly or sent letters of support for a
Statement to the 58th Session of the United Nations’ General Assembly.

The Statement read in part:

In the former Soviet Union millions of men, women and children fell
victims to the cruel actions and policies of the totalitarian regime.

The Great Famine of 1932-1933 in Ukraine (Holodomor), which took
from 7 million to 10 million innocent lives and became a national
tragedy for the Ukrainian people.

Obviously countries are investigating the genocide that Russia had been covering up for decades.

More and more scholars, researchers are acknowledging the Russian Holodomor genocide in Ukraine was exactly that --a premeditated genocide disguised as a "class struggle." The motive was Russian colonialism.

I believe he means the fact almost all leaders of USSR and NKVD from 1917 to 1937 were of Jewish heritage.
But as it happened later Mr Stalin shot them in 1937 in the Great Terror and they cannot be blamed in any issues.

Alia Tukhtarova Herrod never knew about the 1930s genocide in her native Ukraine when she was growing up.

Her relatives didn't talk about the period when the former Soviet Union, under Joseph Stalin, forced famine among its people. History classes didn't teach her about the estimated 7 to 10 million people who died. The Ukrainian genocide of 1932-33 is known as the Holodomor, or death by hunger.

Many Ukrainians didn't start discussing the event until the country became independent in 1991, Herrod said.

"It's a bad history, so it's hard to remember," said Herrod, 38, who moved to Utah in 1993. "Some people still don't want to acknowledge it happened."
