Russia sends navy vessels to Syria base-agencies

Moscow is sending three large landing ships with marines aboard to a Russian naval facility in the Syrian port of Tartus, Russian news agencies quoted a source in the general staff as saying today.

It seems that Russia is sending those ships to gather up important material it has in the Syrian port and also to remove it's citizens and military personnel back to Russia. This port would eventually become a target of the rebels who also hate the Russians for supporting Assad. , and the Russians do not have the means to defend it in a civil war, without boots on the ground. And of course, they are not that stupid to provoke such an esculation that would lead to direct conflict with the USA, Europe, and all the middle Eastern countries in a shooting war.
