Russia will send an additional team of rescuers to Japan, stricken by the devastating earthquake and tsunami, a spokeswoman for Russia's Emergencies Ministry, Irina Andrianova said on Sunday.

"A Mi-26 helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry is preparing to fly to Japan from the city of Khabarovsk [in Russia's Far East] at 6 p.m. Moscow time," Andrianova said, adding that the second team includes 25 rescuers and a rescue vehicle.

One helicopter? Japan already has most of their SDF on the job, One helicopter w/ 25 people really doesn't add much -- unless they have special skills that are relevant. But the article makes no mention of that.

Helicopter is just to transport the rescuers to Japan. Russia send 75 professional well-equipped rescuers altogether. USA send 72 rescuers. Germany send 40 rescuers.

Washington has sent two planes, the second one arriving later Monday. The two groups, formed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), include 150 rescuers and specially-trained dogs.

Most likely, the place where matt lives hasnīt got many helicopters.
I assume, to harvest corn, helicopters are not required.

The Special Cynology Rescue Service Slovakia is ready to help the Japanese people.

The rescue service can dispatch a 20-member international group of specialists, who have already tackled the effects of various natural disasters both at home and abroad.
Dog-handlers, doctors and four divers.
Even a small country like Slovakia is able to contribute.
Large countries like US or Russia are sending in pittance in comparison.
