satellites are doing lots of good things but they can't do indoor plumbing. As you are concerned about that only, that's your own problem, not the problem of the Russians.

Maintaining security of a country can improve its standard of living in the long run.

If not, why does the US bother to have so many surveillance satellites themselves?
