Perhaps Russia had some influence in this decision. But it was France and Germany who decided that this NATO expansion wasn't in their interests.

The more countries NATO becomes obligated to defend militarily. The more chance there is that they will all have to go to war some time in the future.

There are ethnic divisions in both Ukraine and Georgia, with ethnic minorities straddling borders between Russia and these countries. And their ethnic conflicts can end up dragging all of NATO into war with Russia.

I don't think Germans want to go back to those places and fight there again as they have done during World War II. And France has no good reason to get involved there either.

President Victor Yushchenko signed a Decree on April 1st on implementation of 2008 Ukraine - NATO Target Plan, according to the President`s press-office.

As put in the Decree with the aim of realization of Charter on a Distinctive Partnership between NATO and Ukraine, priority tasks within the framework of NATO-Ukraine Intensified Dialogue, and Ukraine’s obligations resulting from its membership in NATO PfP program the Cabinet of Ministers and all responsible bodies are to provide implementation of 2008 Ukraine - NATO Target Plan.

The Decree also obliges Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Centre of Euro-Atlantic Integration, State Committee on television and radio broadcast and other executive authorities to inform public regularly on implementation of the measures provided by the Target Plan.

Ukrain is an independent country but is part of the Rodina of Rusian countries. She should be part of the Russian federation. As Canada is part of North America.

North America is a continent not a nation. Ukraine is a part of the continent of Europe.

Russia is a nation in Eurasia straddling both Europa and Asia. More of Russia is in Asia than Europe. The Russian federation is not a continent but an empire.

Are you proposing more "Slavic unity" that we here about from Krajina Warrior?

Whay is a "rodina"?

What is a "Rusian" country?

Are you part of the "Slavic unity" Slavophile?

Your logic is fallible. Russia was born of Ukraine. She should bow to Ukrainian sovereignty, adopt the Ukrainian tongue as the national language and beg forgiveness for centuries of inflicting paint and anguish on people that gave her birth. Children are often ungrateful beings. Let's hope this child mends her ways.

Ukraine is not a part of Russia, but unlike Russia, she is European. Ukraine will join NATO, and eventually the EU, and unlike Russia, Ukraine will enjoy her democracy, something Russia has failed to achieve in it's entire history.

Russia is Russia, Belarus is Belarus, and Ukraine is Ukraine...all three are seperate country's with their own langauge's. No more "Russification" of Belarus and Ukraine.

Canada, USA, and Mexico make up North America, and all three are seperate country's with seperate governments. If the USA was a NAZI country with no freedoms, civil rights, etc... I would not blame Canada for not wanting to have anything to do with the USA.

Same goes for Ukraine. Russia has no freedom of the press, her democracy is a joke, and Ukraine wants no part of this. Ukraine would like to move forward with the rest of Europe instead of being tied down to a totaltarian Russia.

Russia = China...both are crap governments.

It is very offensively to read your posts(not only yours of coarse)
I got that you imagination of my country based on pretentious mass media (when reading west issues i am always amasing how many hate, lie, historical ignorance are there)
You always paint Russia in black ink but forget that was Soviet Union embodies 15 republics.
You defitely don't know that Russian federation had less rights and financing then other national republics. Do you know that Ukrainian delegats were initiators of Soviet Union's forming, that ukrainian red army fight with Poles, Whiteguards, and Petljura?

No, I got some of it when I worked on Sakhlin Island back in 2002, then stayed in Magadan,...then last year when I was in Smolensk and had to bribe a police officer becouse of a lack of a transit visa comming from Belarus.

Russia has alot of great qualities about it, and it's a beautiful country, but like other country's...the USA included it spends it's time on f*cking Ukraine out of NATO and piss*ng on Estonia when it's not too busy supplying that criminal dictator of Belarus with enough money to keep him in power so that he can f*ck Belarusians for even longer.

The USA has alot of problems also, and I bash that arse Bush on the US forums every chance I get, so don't take it personal.=)

And so what? There is only proves there is freedom of speech in Russia. Many issues abuse Putin. I abuse Putin. Look in Russian Internet-there Putin abused too. Almost no moderating on russian political phorums, and people talk about all.
You see only part of truth-Politkovskaia was murdered and the West begin to shout: bloody KGB for Putin's order. For what? She was author of some newspapers, but who read Politkovskaia? Material were given on language professional rightwatchers and as result-list of her awards and grants with good sum. It is opposition on export.
About freedom of meeting: you could freely get a permit nj meet in definite place and shout as possible. What do Kasparov's commanda? They begin collect at Tverskaya St.-mostly overcrowded auto way in Moscow.(I wonder american cops could stand it?) When militia begin move they away West TV begin to shoot film about ugly cops and proud freedomfighters. Note: Kasparov speak in English.
Imagine-Lenin and Trotsky are speaking english to revolution sailors!!!!It is opposition on export.
We have no opposition. It is pity. But it is not because Putin's intrigues, simply the people worthy of respect is not appear yet.
People vote not for Putin or Medvedev, they so sick and tired of disasters and humiliation(the West overtrying)They vote for stability.

WARSAW. APRIL. 10. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE -

Poland perceives Ukraine as its strategic partner and is discussing sharing knowledge of how NATO functions and its experience in such fields as military and administration training, National Security Bureau head Wladyslaw Stasiak said at a joint appearance with his Ukrainian Defense Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov Thursday.

"Ukraine is our strategic partner," Stasiak said. "We talked about

The plan will be presented to Raisa Bohatyriova, head of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council, during her visit to Poland
