Romania swamped with 800,000 citizenship applications by Moldovans

BUCHAREST, Romania: Over 800,000 Moldovans - about 20 percent of the country's population - have applied for Romanian citizenship, Romanian President Traian Basescu said Wednesday.

Well man, like it or not, Romanian legislation allows us to regain Romanian citizenship. Of course it’s sad nobody asks your opinion, but you can’t change the situation. Come back and do something to stop us from regaining Romanian citizenship.

That's too bad....you guys should apply for the Ruscky citizenship!!! act and dream like them so why try to be someone that you're not? i'm very happy to tell you that i am a Romanian citizen and most of us Romanians would not want Moldovians becoming Romanian citizens. so be proud of who you are!!!!

Well man, one can be whatever he wants, Russian, Romanian or another citizen. He can choose any citizenship, as long as Romanian, Russian and Moldavian legislation allows him to be what he chose. I am Romanian citizen too and I’m proud who I am. We’ve fought to be what we are and we continue to fight, despite people like you who are proud thousands miles distance from Romania.

dispite Romanians like me...??Hey i left Romania 21yrs a go, and visit at least every other year,but what makes me proud is we didn'd give in to the stupid Russians to rule us for 50 yrs.like i said it before,you guys act,talk and are of no character just like the Russians.i can't stand you people!!!get it??

You didn't give in to the stupid Russians to rule us for 50 yrs? But of course you didn’t. In 1939 Romanian troops surrendered Basarabia to Russia without firing a shot, abandoning civilian refugees on the path of Russian troops. Almost the same they did 1944. Romania didn’t intervene when thousands of families were deported in Kazahstan or Siberia. We alone struggled for Romanian language and Roman alphabet. We also alone stopped Russian tanks at the Nistru river in 1992. So my friend before making a statement make a little research of your own history.

as for the other romanian "immigrants" i am wondering why so many romanians even today decide to leave their country? didn't you all leave romania either 5, 10 or 20 years ago with one dream??? why don't you be kind to each other and stop this child-ish games, its such a pitty because in the end all of you are romanians and you should love and support each other like brothers.

What can I say, we all are romanians, but probably trust considers that he is more romanian and more white then I am. Who knows.
One thing is certain. After 50 years of discrimination and scorn from Russians, we are confronting with the same attitude from white romanians like trust.
Even now our children in Transnistria suffer because they want to learn in romanian language.

si nu ii intereseza de romania.in felul asta
din pacate e singurul fel in care va putem ajuta. cu rusii fratik nu ne putem bate. sintem prea mici indiferent de ce cred alde trust. si asa am avut noi mare noroc ca am intrat in europa si cred ca astia ar putea inchide usile curind. dar cu un procent mare de moldoveni cetateni romani deci eu ar putea fi totusi sanse ca la un moment dat romania si moldova sa fie impreuna in eu chiar si ca state separate poate chiar mai bine ar fi asa cine stie. sa va ajute dumnezeu la toti fratzele

La asta ma gindesc si eu. Sa le dea la toti basarabenii cetatenie romana. Asa v-or avea posibilitatea sa vada tara si europa. Sa vada o alta viata si vada schimbarile din romania. Sa lucreze in tara si sa nu mai plece in russia la munca. Asa li se va trezi constiinta nationala. Dar asa nu-si vad capul de nevoi. Macar tineretul sa-l ajute tara. Cred ca v-om scapa de rusi cu timpul. Se v-or duce odata si odata acasa cu tot cu armata lor si toate jigodiile tiraspolene. Sa ne ajute Dumnezeu sa fim cit mai aproape.

I see no problem in giving citizenship to moldavians. If they need it to go to Europe, good. In this way they can make some money and reverberate the Moldovan economy a bit - which in turn is good for Romania.
