I once got banned by Topix for making a bunch of profane posts. It wasn't my fault though. The people I said bad words to started it first. I was framed.

I've been banned from Wikipedia for "edit warring" and use of obscenities in the editor notes. The other editors kept putting untruthful things in the article due to a personal agenda. I called them on it and the opposition had more clout, and I admit I should have held my fingers a bit. But I washed out my mouse with soap and water and resumed editing 24 hours later.

Oh, I've been fined points on Yahoo! Answers a number of times. I remember giving a metaphorical answer on the gay issue. Well, others didn't like the position I took and reported me. The Y! team member was too dense to get what I wrote and assumed it was not an answer. Similar happened more recently when I tried to paint a picture of my view of the LGBT community. At least I was able to appeal that one, but it was too late for it to be considered as a "best answer." I had about 3-4 questions and/or answers in a row deleted as violations. Two were reinstated after I appealed. So I think I got on some troll's nerves. What was funny was that in 2 of my questions, at least 1 person in each suggested that I kill myself, and I think those answers stayed up there for a good while.

With Y! Answers, I believe the majority of users are doing something wrong. It is just that action is only taken on what is reported, and a lot of times, the reports are bogus. They used to have a public appeals board, and that was amusing to watch. One guy gave as part of his answer, "You wanna buy the Brooklyn Bridge?" Guess why they deleted his answer? They took his cliched expression as spam/solicitation. My guess was that the staffer was an ESL student. There was the person who asked, "What is the best looking thing about Linds?" Linds is a city in some country, and the asker had considered visiting it and wanted to know the best tourist attractions. That question was deleted as "chat or personal correspondence." He kept appealing that question. It would be reinstated, then reported again, etc. The staff and users to I guess, didn't understand that was a place.
