Dear fellow Southern Baptists. I am writing this to inform you of a story I watched on dateline, last night. There were so many quotes from the book of mormon, in between all comercial breaks. I was very disappointed. Does anyone know if Dateline is endorsing this cult?

Cult? You must be thinking about someone else because they are not a cult. Mormons don't sit around bashing other peoples religion so I don't think anyone else should bash theirs.

A cult is defined as any group that follows anything other than the bible. The Mormons Follow The book of mormon, they put it above the bible, therefore they are a cult.

No, they just try to make people think they are on the same level:

Where did you get your information....your pastor? We are not a cult yet I know you are a pseudo-Christian by your un-Christlike attitude against us. We don't put the Book of Mormon about the Bible....it is a second witness to the Bible.

I read the 6 comments before this one. They were written by Christian people from different denominations who ended up insulting each other.
This is exactly what the writers / producers of NBC's Dateline program intended to cause. They have a political agenda and they routinely inject their biases in their episodes. In this instance, the negative undercurrent is against the Mormon Church. I wonder if this has anything to do with the fact that Mitt Romney is a member of this church.

Kristi, you misinterpreted the intention of Dateline. The writers of this episode were not trying to endorse the Mormon Church. They were actually blaming the murder on the church (or on the influence the church supposedly has on its members).
Dateline is notorious for being biased against any Christian church. So please open your eyes next time you watch one of their episodes, because they may attack your own church.

Joseph Smith was a fraud and womanizer, Brigham Young was a ruthless despot. Mormons are no more Christian than a Hindu who believes in hundreds if not thousands of gods and is just as hell bound.

I, personally, am a Catholic and I don't have a beef with any of the groups, be it Mormons, Evangelicals or Southern Baptists. Being a conservative, I am deeply concerned about the tensions that have been recently developing between these groups. I am afraid that, in the next year or so, the left-leaning media is going to drive a wedge between these groups in order to help the Democrats in 2012.
So I sincerely hope that religious leaders as well as individuals from these groups will act as real Christians, and they will exhibit religious tolerance instead of allowing their emotions to be inflamed by the media. Thank you.

I'm LDS (mormon) i agree we need to not worry about religion and look at what qualities this person can provide our country. yes we are all different and we my have different back grounds but we are all americans who came here to have the chance to be free to choose what we belive. I know that Christ is very Sad with us calling each other names. lets turn the other check. you should treat me like a human and I will treat you like a human. we are all made in his image, and if you treat God the same way you are treating mormons or any other religion that is sad. it say in the bible something like this(treat others as you would treat me.(God)) yes this statement isn't a quote it's in my own words. I love my friends who are other religions and I hope they love me. as a person, I would hope that my friends would take a look at each others religions and learn from them. I feel this would make us all better people. Not someone who would put down what others belive as wrong. I challenge everyone to look into other religions and pray to thier God, whoever you feel that may be, for understanding. You should always have an open mind and learn new things in whatever you decide to do. Read the bible, Christ didn't put other religions down, he learned from them, this will help you grow as a person and also be able to take the other persons view into mind, this will also make it easier to respect them as person and not just for their religion.

you need to check out all your history in life we all have made mistakes what about the killing that happened to the mormons in missouri, by other people. I understand they made a wrong choice, and we also did at mt. meadow. I agree they did it, but all throught history we have done something that is not right. that is why we have the attoment of Jesus Christ. its for each of us to be forgive of things we have done wrong in this life. I don't blame you for not looking at all of history think about the first settler of this great nation and others sence then.

Have you never read the Scriptures?

Gal 1:6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Gal 1:7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
Gal 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

I am neither a Mormon nor a viewer of the swill reported by NBC. If you recall when a "Catholic" JFK was running it was rumored the would take direction from the Pope? He was so far from the Cathlic Teachings he should have been called a Cino (Like Rino)...Regardless, I voted for Nixon anyway. You are MORONs to be distracted by attacks on Mormons. I guess Mr. Obama better typifies the Christian values than Mr. Romney? I guess the "Southern Baptist" does not support the right to life. Every Christian, Jew and Hindu should vote for Romney if they value human life and want to live in free and solvent nation. Think of the greater good and get down on your knees and pray our national nightmare will soon end. Think about your Children and Grandchildren.

Phillip was calling it black
He called Joseph a Fraud and a hack
He compared Mormons to Hindus
with Thousands of Gods
Claims he is a Christian
But what are the Odds

‘cause as with kettles and pots
when one notes the black
it reflects more on the noter
and less on the “hack”
Phillip reveals what for many is noted
One looks not very Christian
When so pompously bloated

“The Truth” has cornered the market
On religion and judgment’s his target
He’s found a cult and wants all aghast
He’s been brewing some “roots”
They show the cults past

But dealing in roots, leaves and such things
Can leave one open for judgmental dings
Your character is questioned, or some think your joken’
But others see clearly
And want what you’re smokin’

A year ago, I wrote a comment expressing my concern about possible tensions, between different religious groups, which may help the left in November, 2012.

I am very happy to see that these tensions have evaporated. I commend numerous religious leaders who made this possible. I hope that Romney will prevail next week. God Bless America.
