I was having a dialougue on whether Protestant and Catholics are brothers and sisters in Christ. We were divided in our answer. I would like to see the Baptist stance on this discourse.

The Catholics inception was 313AD. Baptist were first called Christians at Antioch; easy provable, but not the issue. See Jesus' baptism; by default all Christians are Baptist

In John'e epistles he said antichrist came out from among them. They are fairly easy to trace. Here are some:

Clement of Alexandria (200 AD)
A. Clement was a disciple of Tatian
B. Clement taught that there was no real heaven or hell, no blood atonement of Christ, and no infallible Bible.
C. He used the Gnostic Scriptures to teach his students.
D. He founded the school of Theology in Alexandria Egypt.

IV. Origen (184-254 AD)
A. Origen was a disciple of Clement of Alexandria.
B. He held to the same doctrine as Clement, plus he taught baptism was necessary for babies to gain salvation.
C. Origen stated, "The Scriptures are of little use to those who understand them as they are written." (Ibid. p. 192).
D. Dr. Wilkinson stated, "When we come to Origen, we speak the name of him who did the most of all to create and give direction to the forces of apostasy down through the centuries." (Ibid. i·bi·dem ( b -d m ,-b d m). adv. Abbr. ib. or ibid. In the same place. Used in footnotes and bibliographies to refer to the book).
E. Origen was one of the first textual critics. His textual work in both the N.T. and the O.T.(the "Hexapla") was the basis for two of the most corrupt manuscripts used by the Roman Catholic Church.(Vaticanus and Sinaiticus).
F. Origen developed a method of Biblical interpretation which is called "allegorization". Origen believed the Bible was only a set of stories that illustrate truth, but not literal facts. He believed Christ to be created and subordinate to the Father (the same as Jehovah's Witnesses), the pre-existence of the soul before birth (the same as the Mormons), and the final restoration of all spirits (Universal Salvation).(see Dr. Earle Cairns "Christianity Through The Centuries", Zondervan Publishing House, p. 122).

V. Eusebius (260-340 AD)
A. He was trained at Origen's school in Alexandria.
B. Eusebius was the editor of two Greek manuscripts (mss.) named Vaticanus and Sinaiticus. These two mss. were discredited and abandoned by early Christians as being corrupt.("Which Bible?" p. 139,143).
These are Roman Catholic mss. and were not used by Protestant Christians until 1881. These two mss. are the basis for Roman Catholic Bibles and every major English translation of the Bible since 1901. These mss. were not the ones used for the King James Bible.
C. Eusebius was Roman Catholic in his doctrine (see his book, "Ecclesiastical History", Vols. 1-5).
D. He was commissioned by Emperor Constantine to make 50 copies of Scripture for the Roman church. Eusebius copied the Gnostic Scriptures and Vaticanus and Sinaiticus.

Read Rev 17 --- RCC is Antichrist. Easy to prove Baal is their god.

The Inquisition alone is enough to show them for what they are. Today's headlines should be enough. Need more on the star of their god?

Alexander Hislop Two Babylon’s Chapter 7
The name of the system is “Mystery”(Rev 17:5). Here, then, we have the key that at once unlocks the enigma. We have now only to inquire what was the name by which Nimrod was known as the god of the Chaldean Masteries. That name, as we have seen, was Saturn. Saturn and Mystery are both Chaldean words, and they are correlative terms. As Mystery signifies the Hidden system, so Saturn signifies the Hidden god.*

* In the Litany of the Mass, the worshippers are taught thus to pray:“God Hidden, and my Saviour, have mercy upon us.”(M’GAVIN’S Protestant) Whence can this invocation of the “God Hidden” have come, but from the ancient worship of Saturn, the “Hidden God”? As the Papacy has canonised the Babylonian god by the name of St. Dionysius, and St. Bacchus, the “martyr,” so by this very name of “Satur” is he also enrolled in the calendar; for March 29th is the festival of “St. Satur,” the martyr.(CHAMBER’S Book of Days)

To those who were initiated the god was revealed; to all else he was hidden. Now, the name Saturn in Chaldee is pronounced Satur; but, as every Chaldee scholar knows, consists only of four letters, thus–Stur. This name contains exactly the Apocalyptic number 666:–

S = 060
T = 400
U = 006
R = 200

If the Pope is, as we have seen, the legitimate representative of Saturn, the number of the Pope, as head of the Mystery of Iniquity, is just 666. But still further it turns out, as shown above, that the original name of Rome itself was Saturnia,“the city of Saturn.”

From the NASA fly-by of Saturn was found a giant hexagram.
See the Saturn hat below.
But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
Amos 5:26 (KJV) This image is the hexagram known as the Star of Lucifer over 3,000 yrs.

From above you see the ancient Chaldean language from Babylon; Saturn is Satan; also note its number of rings.

STUR is the Chaldean (Chiun) for Saturn. In papal procession you'll see much of the hexagram on garments and notice it all over the place in building. The Cardinals carry four poles behind the Pope; on each is a letter S-60 T-400 U-6 R-200 = 666. The Hexagram = 666 Notice the temple to Baal below.

Encyclopedia of Freemasonry vol 1 pg 132
“Sabaism, or the worship of the stars, was one of the earliest deviations from the true system of religion. One of its causes was the universally established doctrine among the idolatrous nations of antiquity, that each star was animated by the soul of a hero god, who had once dwelt incarnate upon earth. Hence, in the hieroglyphical system, the star denoted a god. To this signification, allusion is made by the prophet Amos, when he says to the Israelites, while reproaching them for their idolatrous habits:“But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.”(Amos v. 26)
This idolatry was early learned by the Israelites from their Egyptian taskmasters; and so unwilling were they to abandon it, that Moses found it necessary strictly to forbid the worship of anything “that is heaven above”; notwithstanding which we find the Jews repeatedly committing the sin which had been so expressly forbidden. Saturn was the star to whose worship they were more particularly addicted under the names of Moloch and Chiun, already mentioned in the passage quoted from Amos. The planet Saturn was worshipped under the names of Moloch, Malcom or Milcom by the Ammonites, the Canaanites, the Phoenicians, and the Carthaginians, and under that of Chium by the Israelites in the desert. Saturn was worshipped among the Egyptians under the name Raiphan, or, as it is called in the Septuagint, Remphan. Stephen, quoting the passage of Amos, says,“ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch and the star of your god Remphan.”(Acts vii.43)

Jesus is our God not Baal. Are you aware of the ten commandments? Then you should know you are breaking one to bear false witness. All of that you posted is not true at all.

No Catholics and Protestants are no Christian brothers/sisters.

I am a Protestant who grew up a Catholic.
After 18 years as a Catholic, I found salvation in Jesus Christ.

A few years later I read what the Council of Trent says about me. I am considered "anathema" (accursed) by the Church of Rome now.
The 2nd Vatican Council reaffirmed the anathemas of Trent.

I have no spiritual kinship with Catholics, as they are pagan idolators who teach "another gospel".

While I don't agree with everything the other poster wrote, I highly recommend the book he mentioned: The Two Babylons, by Alexander Hislop.

Hislop was an Anglican bishop. He proves that the RRC is not a Christian church at all. It is merely a baptized form of paganism.

That's very Christian like of you to say that. If you claim to be a Christian. Then you probably are aware of the Ten Commandments. Ever hear of bearing false witness? What you just commented on was lies

Redeemed, if you claim to be a former Catholic, you would have some grasp of Catholicism. You don't get it at all. We don't worship statues. All praise goes to Jesus Christ and him alone. We ask Mary and the saints to petition to God for the things we desire or any problems we may be dealing with.

The problem for poor you is that it is true.
And you are too busy worrying about John Smythe to learn anything.

The other problem for you is the eternal hell that awaits all who are not born again by the Spirit of God, and you believe Satan's priests who tell you that baptism saves you.

Redeemed, I don't give a crap about Smythe at all. I'm explaining to you why he was a false prophet. Catholics believe in Gods grace through good deeds. How is that satanic? The devil hates good people.

The devil loves legalists. Read Galations 2 & 3.

You don't give a crap about Smythe? I cannot tell. He would never have beem mentioned here if not for you.
And he cannot be a "false prophet" if he never claimed to be a prophet at all.

How is that Satanic?

It is doing the devil's bidding when you convince people they have been born again when they have not. It gives them a false hope and/or assurance.

You were not born again when you were sprinkled with holy water. All you got was wet.

When someone is baptized. We are welcomed into Christ's church. By getting baptized we are also forgiven from Original sin. The sin when Adam and eve ate the apple. I thought you said you were a former Catholic. You should of known that.

I know the teaching. But it is unbiblical and false. It gives false assurance. That's why it is Satanic.

Never said you have. How is that a straw man argument? I haven't changed the subject. You just don't have any information to back up my comment so you accuse of it being a straw man argument. I just debunked your faith in the last comment.
