Baptists saying no to new NIV

There are 6 comments on the Tulsa Beacon story from Jul 21, 2011, titled Baptists saying no to new NIV. In it, Tulsa Beacon reports that:

The Southern Baptist Convention has rejected the 2011 version of the New International Version of the Bible because it has been rewritten to be "gender neutral." That's good news.

The new Bibles that do not differentiate between male and female, some people want to believe God is a woman and the angels are women, are of this world.

This is Satans world and the demon influences are in everything today, movies, music, books, well all entertainment and whatever a person spends his time and energy on that is ungodly.

Anyone who wants to be happy and have peace in their life has to live as God's word tells them today. Just start reading a Bible, any Bible.

(Psalm 1:1-2) 1 Happy is the man that has not walked in the counsel of the wicked ones, And in the way of sinners has not stood, And in the seat of ridiculers has not sat. 2 But his delight is in the law of Jehovah, And in his law he reads in an undertone day and night.

Thanks for enlightening us as to the definition of a true Christian. I always thought it had something to do with doctrine.

I agree that it sounds like an unsavory translation. However, you do realize that everytime the Bible has been translated or paraphrased (even the KJV) that people have refused to read the new translation as being anti-Christian. The only versions not infected are the original Hebrew and Greek monographs, as they are called. Also remember that early Christians normally used the Septuagint rather than the Hebrew Old Testament.
