Why do Southern Baptists hate homosexuals?

In the Constitution of the Southern Baptist Convention, Article III, it states that a church can only be a member if: It is in friendly cooperation with the Convention. Cooperation is defined as those churches that do not “act to affirm, approve, or endorse homosexual behavior.” There is no prohibition against churches that act to affirm or endorse slavery, pedophilia, adultery, murder or anything else, just homosexuality. In addition, the SBC has adopted over 40 resolutions condemning homosexuality. Every year a new resolution is presented condemning homosexuality. The strongest unified message of the SBC is that homosexuals must convert to heterosexuality or else God’s judgment will fall on America. Why is this same statement not made concerning adulterers? Our churches are filled with adulterers yet we never single them out, just homosexuals.
I am often told,“homosexuality is an abomination to God.” Yet, so is eating lobster (Leviticus 11). Why is it we quote Leviticus 20 to prove homosexuality is an abomination but forget that same passage also calls for their execution? Why do we not see that entire passage is addressed to the “children of Israel” and not to the Church? Why do focus so much on interjecting ourselves into the personal matters of others even to the point our church messengers are threatened with expulsion if they say anything in defense of homosexuals? One wonders if this all out war against homosexuals is nothing but a smokescreen to cover up something we wish to remain covered. What other reasons could there be to focus so much energy and attention to ensure no homosexual ever be allowed to participate in Southern Baptist life.
Please do not tell me "they love the sinner but hate the sin."

Follow Jesus and scripture and the teaching of the Apostles.

There is no universal church. All churches of NT ordinance are 'local' churches. The SBC answers for itself and the local church are not bound to the SBC or their teachings or their opinion.

Sin is sin and is wrong. We are to love one another. There are whores that may become saved and children of God same any any child of God. Same goes for anyone in error. There is no master race or those with special blood.

A local body of believers is the church of the living God. One must realized it is composed of families and not all within that family are necessarily saved. Their children or some may depart. Many lost come to hear the gospel and hopefully become saved.

Homosexual folks are difficult to define. Some are sucker good folk or are of merely a different look and are bullied and revert to ??? They may be mean or good. But no one is good enough or merits salvation - it is the gift of God. God is our judge and He alone can save and atone.

When folk try to justify their sinful ways; regardless if it's drinking, whore mongering, incest, adultery, stealing, cheating, lying or homosexuality ---- we are to deny self and follow Jesus, be good stewards and watch and pray and love one another.

Judge the matter: is adultery worse than homosexuality? Probably most will say adultery is worse. Some say adultery is worse than murder? It's not how bad can you be; but, how we can be good stewards for Jesus and show His righteousness in our lives as He gives us eternal life. Nothing in this life is worth one whit compared to what Jesus has done for us. Love one another and follow Jesus; that way you won't be concerned with sin at all.

What an idiotic bunch of whine!
The SBC might pass more resolutions condemning adultery, murder, etc if there were people claiming those things are not sin.

As far as I know, homosexuals are the only group of God's lawbreakers who have their very own lobby.

For those that follow Lucifer, you will suffer the same fate. Ultimately, the Lake of Fire.

Behold, thou art wiser than Daniel; there is no secret that they can hide from thee: 4 With thy wisdom and with thine understanding thou hast gotten thee riches, and hast gotten gold and silver into thy treasures: 5 By thy great wisdom and by thy traffick hast thou increased thy riches, and thine heart is lifted up because of thy riches: 6 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast set thine heart as the heart of God; 7 Behold, therefore I will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall defile thy brightness. 8 They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas. 9 Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee. 10 Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
Ezek 28:3-10 (KJV)

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Rev 20:10-15 (KJV)

God's authority and what He will accept and/or condemn is well defined --- all are without excuse.

This thread; hating homosexuals......... I do not think SBC or Baptist hate homosexual in general.

To qualify this: teems are preyed on that have no understanding of Christianity and many are drug into the life style from ignorance. Many have had it forced on them and only know a secular view. Then there's the mean crowd that do the preying and have an evil heart to do wrong and corrupt. Far too many are duped and have been convinced by a lie even from the educational system.

All are sinners and have fallen short. But they can repent and seek God. God knows the heart and will call upon whom He will. When one becomes saved they take on Christ Jesus' righteousness and have desire to follow Jesus and His commandments. All will face God but the unsaved lost person will be one that has rejected Him and His teachings. Going your own making your own rules justifying yourself and making yourself feel good from your own reasoning will not get you anywhere. Take an honest look at yourself and realize that God is over it all and He created the universe; what manner of person should you be before a Holy God. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?
2 Peter 3:10-12 (KJV) Realize these are the last days. Now read Rev 5-11 and let God talk to you.
