To be born again is to die to this life and live for Christ. It is a spiritual Birth. The term comes directly from Jesus Christ own words

Born again is another term for being saved. In John chapter 3 Jesus is talking to Nicodemus about being born again. "lest a man be born again he can not enter into the kingdom of heaven" Paul tells us that when we accept Christ as Lord and Saviour we become a new creation. We are "born again".

My personal experience with Christ happened four years. I realized I was in need of a savior. I was convicted of my sins and I repented and asked Christ into my heart. My life was completely changed I was spiritually born again.

I had lived my entire life as a religious person (going to church, reading my Bible, believing I was far better than non-religious people, etc.).

At the age of 19 I found myself attending a Baptist college and truthfully living far more moral than the average person my age - yet even with all of my "right living" there was still something missing. Something empty about my religion.

One afternoon while sitting in my dorm I was reading my Bible, as was my afternoon custom, and came across the following verse:
"While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption:" -II Peter 2.19

The passage went on to call people like me, "clouds without rain".

For some reason, those verses smacked me with all their might against my face. It was as if I could hear God audibly saying to me, "Sure you're religious, but you're as lost as the most wicked man on earth and you need to get right."

I knew exactly what that meant. It meant that I needed to do what the Bible describes as being "born again" - reaching a point in your life where you see yourself as a hell deserving sinner, in need or a Savior, realizing that Christ Jesus is the only qualified Savior and that there is nothing you can possibly do to earn God's salvation, humbling yourself before God and man and asking Jesus to save you from your sins.

Though I knew exactly what I needed to do, I was full of pride and was not wanting to have to face everyone I had ever known and tell them that I had been living a lie.

I put this off for several days, however, on the afternoon of Friday, October 15, 2004, the realization of my own sin and the burden it carried was simply to much to bare.

I approached a trusted friend and he and told him what was going on. He thanked me for my honesty and prayed with me. After praying, I told Jesus I was sorry for my sin and asked him to be my Savior.

Since that day I have been "born again."

Though I would love to say I have been sinless, that simply wouldn't be true. In fact I dissappoint myself and the Savior each day. But that doesn't matter, because even when I'm not faithful He is!

That's what it means to be born again.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3 (KJV)

That born again is from the circumcision of the heart and baptism by fire. This places one in the family of God and Kingdom of God.

Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.

On that night in the Judean sky the mystic star dispensed its light, a blind man moved in peaceful sleep and dreamed that he had sight.
A lonesome leaper seldom seen had a vision he was clean. When he awoke in morning’s light, he had friends well in sight.

On that night in the manger stall, slept child and mother cheek by jaw; a harlot dreamed she was safe and secure because a chosen one had made her pure.

Against the black bosomed night diamonds spangled the sky while angels announced the birth of a King.

As the light flickered against the walls, the shadow of the cross carved from the beams in the stable loomed over him and he remained under that shadow all his life.

From His loom He can fashion the fleece to curtain the couch of the dying and give dignity and peace. I won’t forsake you!

Upon the looms of Heaven He weaves the delicate tapestry of the rainbow to glisten against the rolling clouds reflected by the silver lines He laced on the green meadows. The lovely lily's He tacked on the lush green carpet against a backdrop of purple mountains piercing the turquoise sky where set afire by a blazing sun to coat a blue planet with universal light. How can anyone put limits on Him - The Just One.

There wasn't room for him in the inn - but on January 5, 1972 I made room for him in my heart.

Except one becomes a child; so simple but yet difficult to put you life in someone else's hands. Suffer the little children to come to me and forbid them not!

I feel so small and inadequate sometimes and ashamed that I haven't done more in life. There are some things that can’t be taken away. One must have a vision! Seize the day!
