Ive been muslim all my life and followed it zealously but recently I begun to examine it and the more i read about it, particularly the hadiths concerning the character of nabi muhammad the more I feel disgusted and ashmed to have looked up to him as the best of men. I have read and looked into Sikhism and find it beautiful, I can't see any flaws in Guru's characters and the teachings are comforting and heart warming. I want to know is there any formal procedure I would have to take to convert to Sikhism? I have read testimonies of a few converts to Sikhism and most wear turbans and 5k's I dont think im ready to take that step. Would it be possible to convert yet not have to wear the 5k's?

One does not have to wear the 5 k's right away. I myself was born into a Sikh family and just turned 18. Yet i do not wear the 5 k's because I haven't gotten baptised (amridthari). For now, please just focus on the teachings of the guru's and try to find others who can help you on your path. Focus on 3 things right now and you will get there according to your effort....Naam Japo(simran). Kirth Karo(honest earning).Vand ke Chako(donate/volunteer a minimum of 10% of your time/money to the needy)...if you ahve any questions be sure to post em

"Religion consist not in wandering to tombs or sitting in attitudes of contemplation; Religion consist not in wandering in foreign countries or bathing at places of pilgrimages. Abide pure amid the impurities of world;thus shall you find the way of religion." (p-730,Guru Granth Sahib Ji)

the above statement is untrue, as you can see each poster is calling the other 'animals' and other insulting words but yet they are acting like it themselves. All you have to do is remove hatered and prejudice from your heart and let god and logic guide you.

I'm disgusted by the comments of so called muslims in their forum. They are blinded by falsehood of islam, i too was that way inclined only recently awaken to the falsehood of islam i was following. I pray for these muslims on the forum to also see the true barbaric and backward nature of islam, analyse the character of nabi muhammad and the sahaba's before their souls get get trapped in this duniya.

Exactly, what gives you the right to criticize others when you cant take the same shlt yourselves ? You wear your religion on your sleeves (sorry I meant heads) your religion is a very outdated label thats all

If you, asif, were a muslim...you would not show this type of discrimination and hatred towards Sikhism or others at all. Yet people like you say Islam is a peaceful religion and that not all muslims are terrorists...yet you yourself say hateful and vile things on the internet?

It is the followers that introduce and explain the religion.

Take Asif Khan for example. It is rather strange you say that because the followers that use terror are admitting to follow Islam. I don't see protests from Muslims trying to tackle the problem. I do see violent protests. None to contradict them. I will give people the benefit of the doubt...but they will have to walk the talk.

Why are people into religion so much to the pont they are prepared to kill each other? why can't we all get along. what could be more natural than a muslim making love to a sikh, or a sikh to a jew or a christain to a hindu or a buddhist to a jain? why can't we all sit around a camp fire and smoke some weed, & drink Jack Daniells without any guilt attached? Isn't that the recipe to a happy life, everyone making sweet love after being stoned. So no to religion and yes to nice people!
