Who does the Holy Spirit reside in ?

There are only two types of people on earth to choose from.

There are those who are His....His Sheep...the saved, born by Him Jn 1:12,13
and
there are those who are not His...the unsaved, not born by Him

The Bible clearly teaches, the Holy Spirit resides only in the "saved". The Holy Spirit does not reside in the unsaved.

The unsaved, the natural man, is not able to take the initiative to move toward God.
Left to himself, because of his complete depravity and inabilty, the natural man, the unsaved, would NEVER recieve the Savior.
Jn 5:40 6;44 Rom 3;11

7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
Rom 8

How then does the unsaved find God?

answer;

God calls them.........and they hear Him and accept that it is true, that Jesus is the Son of God, recieve His Spirit and follow.

“For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren; and these whom He predestined, He also called; and these whom He called, He also justified; and these whom He justified, He also glorified.” All those who are predestined will be saved John 6:39 Romans 8:30 because they are the ones that God the Father gives to Jesus Christ John 6:37 who will raise them up on the last day John 6:39 John 17:2. They are Christ’s sheep John 10:1-30 who hear His voice and for whom He died John 10:15 in order to give them eternal life and make them secure forever in the hand of God John 10:26-30.

20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Gal 2

Jesus stated; He who accepts that I am God as the scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water Jn 7:38..........The Holy Spirit .......LIVING WATER

Jesus stated; only those who accept Me, I give eternal life, the Living Water, the Holy Spirit.

5 Jesus answered,“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you,‘You must be born again.’ Jn 3

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

2 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. 1 Jn 4

13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world. 15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 1 Jn 4

Conclusion,

the Holy Spirit resides in the "saved", those who are His sheep, those who accept as true, that Christ is the Son of God, those who have been born of the Spirit, the Spirit of Him, the living WATER, who gives life to the saved mortals body.

Does Christ reside in the unsaved?

No,

the unsaved do not want Christ, they do not believe there is a Christ, thus they would never say;

"Jesus is Lord" . Only the saved can and will state, "Jesus is Lord".

No one can understand God or follow God without God in Him first and foremost.

The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolish to him, nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1 Cor 2:14

3 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, and no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit 1 Cor 12

Conclusion,

the unsaved natural man is in darkness and will not state Jesus is God, nor can he say "Jesus is Lord", because he is not saved and is without the power, the Holy Spirit. Nor can the unsaved natural man even think of Christ's commandments, to repent, to love one another, to spread the News About Christ the Savior, for Christ does not enter his mind. The Holy Spirit resides only in the saved.

Who are the saved?

Answer;

Those who are called and born by God , that accept as true, that Jesus Christ is Lord.

The saved are those who accept ,that it is true, Jesus is the Son of God. These saved, are those who God gives to His Son, God does not give the wicked to His Son, God does not give imposters to His Son, God gives only those who are born by Him, that believe in His name and state......"Jesus is Lord"

(2 Thessalonians 2:13-14) But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers loved by the Lord, because from the beginning God chose you to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.{14} He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Titus 3:5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit

Because the saved accepted it as true, Jesus is God. The unsaved, the world , do not accept it as true
that Jesus is God, for they can not see Him, and they do not know Him

Jn 14:16,17 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever— the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

God must be in you FIRST to understand Him, to see Him, to follow Him, to know Him and His desires for you.

You must accept that it is TRUE, that Jesus is the Messiah

10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own(the Israeli), and His own did not receive Him.( The Israeli did not accept Jesus as the Son of God)

12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:

13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God Jn 1 (READ THIS VERSE AGAIN)

Note: verse 12 above does not state,

But as many who keep commandments, to them He gave the right to become children of God

and verse 13 does not state,

who were born, by keeping commandments, a works, their own will, not by God

His Sheep "the saved" know Jesus is God, their God.

25 Jesus answered them,“I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me.

26 But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.

28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

29 My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. Jn 10

Conclusion,

The saved, are those who accept it as true, that Jesus is the Son of God.
His Sheep believe in the His name, and they are not born by personal works of anykind, but by God, who gives them to His Son.
His sheep have the POWER , the Holy Spirit in them. These are saved, and are the ONLY ones that can think and know the commandments and things of Christ.

Why does Jesus state:

If you love Me you will keep My commandments.

Answer: Keeping Jesus' commandments means you are abiding in Him and He is in you 1Jn 4:24
Keeping His commandments, to accept as true, that Jesus is God, and to love one another, indicates that the Holy Spirit was placed in you and saved you. 1Jn 4:23

He who does not Love,....... does not know God 1 Jn 4:8

What are the commandments of Christ?

answer:
What ever Christ commands you. Jn 15:14

Where do we go in scripture to find Christ's commandments ?

answer;

In His New Testament which recieved its name from the New Covenant, which replaced the old Covenant of the Mosaic Law Heb 10:9 8:6-13 2 Cor 3:6-14. The New Covenant was predicted in Jermiah 31:31-34 and was brought into force by Christ's death and resurrection Lk 22:20 Heb 9:15
This section of the Bible not only tells us about Jesus atoning work which made the New Covenant effective, but it also elaborates on the covenant's promises and states God's will for those who are its recipients.

In His New Testament, Jesus clearly distinguishes the old law from the new law, for Christ has become
the new High Priest, He established the new priesthood, Himself , His sacrifical death for mankind, thus there is a change of law.
Heb 7:11,12

The Law of Moses, or the Book of the Covenant, consisted of the Ten Commandments, the sacrifical laws, the feast laws, the puirty laws, as Jesus stated, was their law Jn 8:17 10:34 the Israeli Law,
and this
the Old Covenant 2 Cor 3;14 Deut 4:8 Ps 147:19,20 Gal 4:24 given at Mt Sinai was taken away and replaced by the Law of Christ Heb 10:9 Heb 12:18-24 1Cor 9:19-21 for those in Christ 1 Tim 1:9
Rom 8:2

Here in the New Testament, you will learn the will of God for the Christian. If you love the Lord, you will keep these New Testament commandments .

But first and foremost, you need to accept that it is true, Jesus is Lord, that Jesus is the Son of God
in order to recieve Him and His commandments, instructions for the Christian life, the renewing of your mind.

No one can follow God, No one can know God, without God in them...FIRST,

you must be saved FIRST.

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him and he in God 1 Jn 4:15

Shadrach, thank you for the the beautiful scriptures telling us we can't even know God unless God is in us first. Jesus is the Son of God. He comes to us and we hear Him. He renews our minds so we can know God. I know He came to me in the shower when I was crying one evening. He led me to Himself and I knew that was where I belonged. I accepted His lead. The Holy Spirit filled my heart and mind of the things of God that I should do. I had to forgive, to love, and die to myself. God knew me first and He saved me. Now I can know Him more each day into eternity.

Shadrak your teaching is perfect...Your are absolutely right ...First Christ has to be in you
before you can understand the gospel of Jesus.
The natural man can not understand the things of
God...You have to be born again to understand the heart of God...Ezekiel 36 shows the heart of God
towards Israel...God is concerned about His Holy
Name in the world ...He will show is power and
might in the end times towrds anyone who comes up
against Israel...He will defend them...Anyone who
hurts Israel will suffer for it.

Chris, the Muslims have to show their God first by what they do, what they wear, there day to worship on, what to eat etc. before their God sees them. Their God does not come to them. They go to him and work all the time to show Allah they follow him. Our God, Jesus Christ comes to us first and knocks on our hearts to come in and live with us. He teaches us to love Him and others. We must first have God is us to be saved. If God does not live in you, you are not saved. We are saved first by God because of His Grace and love. No need for a Burka.

Shadrach--you were doing great until you took a left turn into Paul's words. Jesus NEVER called the commandments (covenant) the ten commandments because everyone KNEW when He said the word "commandments" that He was referring ONLY to the Ten commandments. How come you couldn't figure that out? There is NO such thing as any brand new covenant--the old one and only one was on tablets and they were taken to heaven, therefore God said He would RENEW this covenant with second chance Israel (God had divorced the first Israel) IF they completed the 6 conditions found in Dan. 9:24. But the refused, so the promise to renew still stands for the KOH in the last days. If U are not IN the KOH in the last days, then you will probably end up swimming in the lake of fire.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful moment in which No One can take away from you, one in which you will ALWAYS remember, one in which
God called you and came into you, to lead you out of the darkness.

By your very words, we know you have been saved.

No one can say Jesus is the Son of God, no one can preach the wonderful things of Jesus, like you, without Him in you, saved.

Rocky,
You've got rocks in your head! The 10 commandments have been fulfilled by Jesus, therefore everyone who is born again of His Holy Spirit (received His Holy Spirit), has been GIVEN the righteousness of God, which is the righteousness of Jesus Christ.
How come YOU haven't figured THAT out?? Probably because you REFUSE to listen to Paul. What a shame! You are so close and yet so far away.

Hopefully, you have "OBEYED" Luke 11:13, otherwise you may be at the head of that list in which God says: Depart from me...I never KNEW you.
