I have heard some SDA's say that the Two Witnesses are the Old and New Testament. Why do they believe this? When reading the scripture,It seems they are clearly talking about two people/prophets.

Revelation 11

Revelation 11
John actually tells you who they are:

1. The two olive trees, and
2. The two lampstands ...

Standing before the God of the earth.

They are not literally two individuals. Consider verse 5, "And if anyone wants to harm them, FIRE PROCEEDS FROM THEIR MOUTH and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he MUST be killed in this manner."

They are actually the two offices of Jesus Christ: the anointed King and the anointed High Priest, representative of the people like Moses (king) and Aaron (high priest). They are symbolic of the entire true church.

Notice to whom they allude however. Their work is reflective of Moses against Pharaoh (plagues), and Elijah against Jezebel (no rain).

God tells us himself in Isaiah 43 [1]

Jacob...who is fleshly Israel..and is in no covenant relationship at the moment..having rejected the messenger of a new covenant...Jesus Christ.

and

Israel of God..who have always been his covenanted people

And the new covenant Jesus mediates is for the Israel of God..

for not all who are Israel are really Israel but the child of the promise.

We who are Christians and in the new covenant Jesus mediates , based on better promises..and we are grafted into the Israel of God , when boughs were broken off and we were grafted in.

Jacob is fleshly Israel and prophesies exist that Jacob would break covenant and be scattered to all the nations..but Gods word says " Jacob has not come to his finish, because Gods mercies will not come to an end."

So in the last days God gathers both Jacob and Israel [covenant people] from all the nations.

At the moment these are the days of Jacobs trouble..but Jehovah will deliver him out of it.

But he still stands as a witness to the prophesies of God.

They are the anti-typical Elijah & Moses.

Two candlesticks which have made their way into the Most Holy Place of the heavenly sanctuary; which represents two groups of God's people at the end of time.

One group is the martyrs which are beheaded in the time of the Global Sunday Law and, like Moses, are resurrected at the return of Jesus.

Second group is the 144,000 which give the Loud Cry, warning the world against accepting the Mark of the Beast and of the imminent return of Jesus Christ in clouds of glory which brings about the destruction of the earth and all those who persist in sin.

That's the short version.

In my haste, I forgot to mention that the second group, the 144,000 live through all the final events without seeing death and are translated into immortality at the Second Coming, paralleling the experience of Elijah.

Both of the groups eventually make their way into the Most Holy Place, though at different times, signifying their victory over sin/self through the power of Jesus Christ who is the Holy Spirit.

Biblically inaccurate. Consider Rev. 11:5

Not literal fire. The prophecy deals with symbols. Look up Jeremiah 5:14 and Joel 2.

I agree. And should you have read my replies in their entirety, rather than just read the first sentence followed by a hasty reply, you would see that nowhere did I state that the two witnesses are two literal people.

I encourage you to study and research what is meant by the the terms 'type' and 'anti-type'.

I read your two posts. The only nearly relevant part was the idea of "an antitypical Moses and Elijah".

The rest was a weird mess of EGW misinterpretations of Sunday laws, translations, the 144,000, mark of the beast, etc., etc.

Please try to be faithful to the text and allow the Bible to interpret itself.
