It is amazing to me how quickly people are ready to jump on the racist bandwagon. The effigy of Obama, was a political joke, not an ugly racist act. I actually thought it was pretty clever. To make a statement about the lack of ability in leadership that one of the presidential candidates has..was very creative. Tying a cardboard cutout of Obama with a sign that he would have been an "Act Six Reject" was genius. If you actually THINK about it..but then I don't expect many journalists to do that these days.
It is more fun to wave the racist banner than it is to get to the bottom of the story. Act Six Scholarships are given out to students who demonstrate leadership potential.not just minorities, but all students (some perhaps, because of financial struggles). But the Act Six Reject referenced the fact that whoever was wearing the sign, did NOT have the leadership potential to LEAD.therefore, they were a reject for the scholarship program. DUH! IT had nothing to do with race. It was a political statement about the lack of leadership potential in OBAMA. HELLO!! And fishing line was PURPOSELY used and NOT rope (they had rope) so people would not confuse the issue of race.this was NOT a racial attack, but a political JOKE! And all of the media (LIBERALS) jumped at the chance to turn this into a racial attack to bring more attention to Obama. What a sad state of affairs. You Journalist make me sick.

it WAS racial you dumb ass...get off the technicalities of the stunt and look at the context of it.

so if someone cut out a picture of you and hung it in public with a sign that read "cracker-ass cracker" on it, you'd take it as a joke, huh?

Your lack of vocabulary has demonstrated why the words in my email were too big for you to understand. I know the kids involved and I KNOW it was meant to be a political JOKE. And how could you take it at all????? You didn't even SEE it. Only three people did and this HUGE deal was made of a political statement against Obama and his ability to lead....NOT HIS RACE...which is half white.

And yes, it would be a joke if someone cut out my pciture and taped cracker to it....because it wouldn't fit.:)

And this is why those students deserved to be ridiculed and punished. Because they are idiots. An INTELIGENT being would understand the sensitivities of the issue in hand. Race relations are a very sensitive issue. Lynchings were a terrible part of American history and the pain caused is still felt today. What your stupid and insensitive friends didn't realise (probably because they live in some kind of narrow-minded world where outwards thinking isn't possible) is that hanging a black guy (it doesn't matter with what) will ALWAYS be interpreted as racist. Students may be claim to be intelligent but they lack the life skills needed for them to make sound and safe decisions. This 'political' farce of a joke was seen as racist because that's how minorities WOULD see it. But you and your friends didn't think or care about what minorities would feel, did you? You sat there drunk in some dorm going "Huh huh wouldn't it be cool? Hah huh"...and the fact that you considered the race issue and STILL went ahead with the hanging (lynching) shows what DUMBASSs you really are! Idiots!

Liberals can hang a mock doll of Sarah Palin and it's not only okay, but the media laughs. The moment conservatives do the same thing to an Obama doll, it's suddenly racist and intolerable. If the left truly view blacks as equals to all men, then both incidents would be treated equally as terrible, not just one over the other.

Its great how the new laws provide "Hate Crimes" legislation. If youre white however these laws do NOT apply to you . WTF ! over ? Its ok if your're white and robbed raped and murdered by a black man but in reverse you now have the bullshit charge of a "hate crime" God Help America !@=Its ok to hang a dummy of PALIN an MCCAIN from a rope but hang a black dummy and you get arrested ? WTF happened to the first ammendment ? In either case its is bad judgement but its is in all reality legal to do under the freedom of speech or expression .... well it was any ways .... Welcome to the U.S.S.R. of ameriKa .. Sleep well in the bed you made as you guys are gonna elect this turd ....

Well I don't see why people can hang a Sarah Palin doll and everyone laugh and be happy. But like the other person said. When you do anything like that towards Obama, it's an outrage. It is stupid how everything a white person does as a joke is racist but black people can do what ever they feel like doing towards whites and nothing is said. How dumb is that.

I feel that both situations are crazy and you are all in need of deliverance. Yes, It was sort of weird that people would get drunk and think about scholarships, but it's also childish that people would hang up dolls of McCain and Palin. I feel that whoever is destined to be in office will be and that this whole issue just unmasked the fact that racism is more alive today then it was 50 years ago and ignorance is coming from all corners of the human race.

Funny how 96% of black voters voted for Obama while 50% of white voters voted for Obama as well. Tells you that blacks are very prejudice against white candidates...this coming after so many black evangelist stated they would not vote for Obama due to his approval of partial birth abortions, etc. calling him a false prophet. However, when all is said and done, the extreme majority of blacks voted for Obama (who is actually only 1/2 black). Now, who is racist?

So many Blacks have seem to put their skin color over their beliefs, judgement, etc. I consider myself an open minded person, but the votes tell the story how close minded the black vote really was!!!

I think the hanging of Obama figure was bad taste, but considering he is 1/2 white I cannot believe this to be a racist issue. In fact, most blacks I know did not even realize that Obama was 1/2 white and raised by white grandparents. This further affirms that the blacks who voted, voted for Obama thinking he was just that, black. Did they even understand his issues vs. McCain's? I am so disappointed in the extreme prejudice in the blacks that actually voted with only skin color in mind. He is not believed to be a Christian. He believes in the continuous killing of partial birth babies (33% of whom are black babies), etc.

He goes to church more than most Americans and yet is "not believed to be a Christian" by whom? Idiots? Want to talk about "not a Christian," then talk about McCain. Certainly if you look at the lifestyle of each, Obama is St. Luke compared to McCain.

How is it racist? Obama is part white and part black... which part of Obama was being hung? Which part was being discriminated against?
Truth is half of America wants Obama to be impeached, not for his half black genes, but for his cruel policies.
Hanging an effigee of Obama is mearly an expression of free speech expressing their distaste for Obama since he is an Marxist who is going to force us into Socialism and destroy our rights while forcing us into trillions of dollars of eternal debt.
Destroying effigees is nothing new, it has existed for thousands of years and is a good legal way for angry citizens to unleash their anger.
