So, that means you have the right to be rude to all Wiccans just because one supposedly said that to you? You probably misread what was said, just like the time you claim I told you to go to hell when I did no such thing.
He [ Chewy] Did say it to me dear, he is a rude and hateful man not just to me but to alot of other people. I do not like your opinions, some are very cold hearted especially towards abortion, and just because i disagree does not mean I hate you.

I do know that it is hard to change your views on religion when you were raised in one religion and then you have others that tell you that you are wrong, my brother and I have had quite a few debates about religion.

As I said before he is now a Jehovah Witness and I find some of what he preaches to be interesting but, then I will argue some points with him as well.

For awhile my sister was with the Seventh Day Adventist, and I didn't always agree with her either.

Two other brothers was in the Jehovah Witness's but has now decided that they are Atheist.

Now as I said I was raised Southern Baptist but my Mother and I both will tell people that we are now considered Running Baptist because we smoke, drink, play cards and dance, which goes against the way we were taught to be a good Christian.

From what I have read on Wicca religion. It is very similar the Indians Shaman.

Now I may not believe in spells and magic , I do believe in karma. And I like the idea of whatever good or bad that you do you get back three fold.

Spells and magic are just forms of prayer and communicating with the gods/goddesses.

You've never met Chewy? He's a rabid pro-choicer that has absolutely no tolerance for pro-lifers and writes long-winded insults against anyone who doesn't like abortion. His usual method is to call people's manhood into question. And if you're a woman pro-lifer you get called anything that means stupid.

I know that people here get insulted and I have seen those insults. I also don't deny the annoying persistance of some Christians, and I am just as dismayed at their belief that they are absolutely right. In fact, I just can't connect with anyone who believes their relgion is absolutely correct while everyone else's beliefs must be wrong. My personal view is that nobody knows what is ultimately the truth, and I find it shocking that so many people take offense at that notion ( not you personally.) I think that is the most unoffensive way to treat anyone's beliefs. None of us knows what is truly fact so we all should be able to discuss our ideas without malice, but when, for example, Pagan and Proud refers to Jesus as a "dead guy on a stick" then I have to say that the victims are also the victimizers. Perhaps the best thing I can say is that both sides have their share of hypocrites.
Great post open your eyes. None of us really knows what will happen when we die or the origins of life. Most of us who have looked beyond what we were taught as children have studied various religions, philosophy, myths, legends, history, etc. We have accepted that we do not have all the answers, and that learning and growing on the path we choose will help us reach a good destination in the end. I respect the path of others, and support their efforts when I can. I just wish that others would accept that we do not all have to share the same path. I try hard to remember that we are all individuals and not apply labels to others. Most Christians are good people, most Wiccans and Pagans are good people, most Muslims, Agnostics, and Atheists are good people. Unfortunately, groups are usually associated with the worst members of the group and when we lump everyone together under that label, we are doing everyone a disservice.

So what is the predominent Wiccan/Pagan view on an afterlife? Perhaps we all can discuss that topic.
I for one believe that when we die we go to Summerland/Heaven, where we review of life and see what we have done to help or hurt others, feeling the pain or pleasure we have given. Once we have reviewed our life, we will have the choice to live again and experience and learn new things, or we can choose to stay and look over our loved ones who are still alive or enjoy reconnecting with loved ones who have passed before us. I think that most people will find the afterlife to be what they expect it to be...they will make their own heaven or hell.

I agree with you about our similarity's and I do know a bit about your religion from the internet and books that I have read on Wicca.
The part about converting was mainly for my Christian brethren and sisters though not for you, I know how pushy we can be at times.
Actually I have found different religions to be very interesting.
By birth, I am Southern Baptist but I have gone to Catholic churches, Pentecostal, Methodists, Salvation Army churches and quite a few others, I like to study different religions on my own.Though I have not been to any churches in about 10 years now.
I am in no way a religious fanatic but I do find allot of similarities as well as differences. My Brother is in the Jehovah Witness's now and wants me to come to their memorial service on the 22nd. I might go since it does mean allot to him and just to see what its like.
Maybe we should start a new thread and invite all religions to join in a discussion without the We are better than you attitudes.
Granny, your history sounds a lot like that of many Pagans. I was born and raised Mormon, attended many churches with friends, read many books about different religious beliefs, and found myself incorporating the positive aspects of each that called to me, and eventually discovered my own path. My husband was born Catholic, but always felt that it was not right for him. When he discovered Wicca, he felt he had come home...it fit him perfectly. We had been dating for a couple months when we had our first discussion about religion/spirituality (which was scary for both of us) and found that we meshed together very well.

But the political beliefs of pagans vary from person to person just as it does with christians. There are pro-life Wiccans just as there are pro-choice christians. I am Wiccan and pro-life, I respect other Pagans who disagree. But a person's politics do not disprove (or prove) their religous beliefs
