It's not provable that someone/some deity set up an early workplace rule that required one day off in seven for the benefit of humanity? Illinois still has that rule. It doesn't require that the day be Saturday or Sunday. It just requires that you can't work more than 6 days in a row. Can't it be like many laws of the time that were founded in G-d's name, but were for the benefit of man; e.g., kosher laws to make sure that the food was wholesome?
