Please note that for this article "Atheism" also includes agnostics, deists, pagans, wiccans... in other words non-religious.

You will notice this is a statement of fact. And to be fact it is supported by evidence (see references below). Now you can have "faith" that this is not true, but by the very definition of faith, that is just wishful thinking.

Now, the Bible does mention OTHER lights which some fundies claim that were also capable of sustaining plant life on Earth, HOWEVER, this goes AGAINST the current scientific view of Earth's history period. Meaning that science is NOT supporting the Bible in this case.
Now go ahead and get Jastrow to agree to plants day 3, sun day 4 or admit you were just lying for Jesus and reaching REAAAAAAAALLY long when you were attempting to claim that science supports the Bible.

No other name used on this thread. I am simply The Dude. When I was talking about fundies being disingenuous I was referring to creationists like yourself. And as daft as you are I'm sure you understood that.
Again, what's wrong is your representation of what Genesis 1 says.

Penzias got it right and Jastrow got it right and you got it wrong, bubba. Deal with it.

When:

1971

Where:

Petri Dish, High School Biology

What: Induced (evolved) antibiotic resistance in cultured Escherichia Coli bacteria.

How: Exposed cultured E.Coli to Penicillin. Made fresh cultures of survivors. Repeat.

Results: After a number of iterations you end up with a Petri dish full of a new strain of E. Coli. The instructions for the proteins / processes that offer antibiotic resistance are written into the animal's genome. The 'new' strain possesses a trait that did not exist before the experiment. It has evolved.

In fact, the process is going on all around us, all the time and will eventually render our antibiotics ineffective. You godbots best step out of the way and let the egg-heads figure out what we are going to do about it. I don't think praying is going to help.

"Fundies" seem a put down, except You seem so similar to a religious fundamentalist. No doubt of your truths, funny though they may be.

"Scientific view of the earths history" would be amusing in a freshman history class. History may be a bit more complex.

The bible too, specifically mentions the lesser light, the night light, "the moon", which the god thought of as such. Too bad no one let him on the secret ... it is just a reflector, no light source at all.

Ah, so ... it's not really 'free will' then, more like sweaty palms or 'goosebumps', we just can't help ourselves.

Interesting. That supports the observation that electrical (or electromagnetic) stimulation of certain regions of the brain can induce religious or mystical 'feelings'.

All of this suggests a perfectly prosaic explanation for this 'God' nonsense ... it's all in our heads!!

I prefer to think that we can control our 'built-in' impulses and the ability to do so marks a person's level of sophistication. In any case, I think you've made important progress here MUQ ... well done!
Ans.

"Free Will" is not absolute free will, if you are thinking on these lines. God does not want to "punish" His creations, that is why He did include a "Built-in" things calls conscience and a sub conscience that tells us what is right and what is wrong.

This is different from "Mystic feeling" you are talking about. Every human has a built-in sense of presence and existence of God, it is using his or her "free will" many times and again and again that the voice of this sub-conscience become very weak and he is bold enough to declare "there is no God, I searched every where but I could not see Him"

We can certainly control our "emotions" and deny the presence of Creator (as these professed atheists are saying)..

And this might have happened because of "wrong models of God that many religions furnished" .

But rejecting some or most models of God, does not mean that one should reach to conclusion that there is no God.

They should be in search for Model which answers their needs…and they should use their God given power of reasoning for this end.

When you say. "we're quite used to fundies being disingenuous" do you mean you and your sock puppets or something else?
I prefer the Big Bang Theory myself.

After all it did predict the very phenomena (a highly uniform cosmic microwave background) that is currently being investigated so spectacularly by the Planck Telescope.

The biblical account of creation omits this - but does include a talking snake, and the explanation that all the bad things in the world are the fault of one disobedient woman.

Again this was not in any way shape or form asked of you. Nobody spoke of mystic feelings you are spamming from your scribd page again and need to be marked for mass deletion.

Sorry to say, but most American beer is just that.

I prefer, as you saw, imported beers.
That or microbrewery beers.
