Ohhhh...but of course, after all you are one of the "civilized" people as opposed to the rest humanity....the savage masses yearning to be "civilized" under the tutelage of the elite. We are not worthy to be in your presence...the wise and civilized secular sage know as "Giveme liberty", we thought you but a legend, but now we know you are a legend in your own mind.
In the words of the great philospher, Bugs Bunny, "What a maroon"!
Where would Western Civilization be if not for the influence of, good, bad, or ugly, religion in general, and Christianity in particular?
Now back to the Wise and Wonderful Wizard of Give me liberty.......give us a break...Madone!
Maybe there wouldn't be a Western Civilization and an Eastern Civilization trying to kill each other.

How can we infringe on anybody? Make all knowledge accessible, then give people the freedom to choose. We're almost there.

Atheistic consolidation of power
Unlike Christians who gush over killing for Jesus like Hitler who dubbed the Jews Christ killers who were going to pay for that.
Hitler also gushed over killing Poles, including Catholic priests, Russians, Gypsies, Homosexuals, etc. Stalin also gushed over killing Jews, and Ukranians, plus a variety of other ethnicities, and his own people.

Hitler was born into the Catholic Church, but hated Christianity and planned to eradicate it from Germany. Plans were already being implemented for completion as soon as they got rid of the jews. The Nuremberg documents prove this beyond any doubt, and it is not even debatable, except in certain isolated circles of christian-haters and nazi-sypathizers.

Hitlers philosophy was,...wait for it,...wait for it,...

DARWINISM!

Goebbels, Nazi Minister of Propaganda:

"The Fuhrer is deeply religous, though completely anti-Christian. He views Christianity as a symptom of decay. Rightly so. It is a branch of the Jewish race... Both [Judaism and Christianity] have no point of contact to the animal element, and thus, in the end, they will be destroyed."

How, dear GiveMeLiverwurst, do you manage to be wrong on every single thing you say?

Seriously, how do you do it? Most people can be right once in a while just due to statistical probability.

How you can be wrong 100% of the time is mind-boggling.

Did you have a reverse NDE? Are you hallucinating about not being born yet?

You should submit yourself to scientific study. Your brain is truly a miracle in error.
Correct!

Atheist mass murder in the last 75 years dwarfs the murders by believers in all of history.

What is it about atheists, that when they get a position of power, they start mass-murdering their own people?

Are they all - like you - just stupid as hell?
Yep

No atheistic had nothing to do with it. In fact several of Stalin's head people were devoutly religious and Stalin himself ordered and paid a tremendous amount of money fixing up old orthodox churches. I am sorry but your apologetic websites have lied to you.

Stalin developed what became known as a "personality cult". Artists painted pictures glorifying Stalin and he dominated many pictures. It was not unusual for Stalin to be in a white suit so that he stood out from the crowd. He gained the nickname "Uncle Joe" which was an attempt to develop an image of a kind, homely man who was the ‘father’ of all Russians. This was all called "Social Realism". Those who wrote poems and novels had to do the same - write about Stalin in a manner which gloried him. Some artists and authors were so depressed by all this that they committed suicide rather than do what the state ordered them to do. Many others tried to leave the country.

Education was strictly controlled by the state. In 1932, a rigid programme of discipline and education was introduced. Exams, banned under Lenin, were reintroduced. The way subjects were taught was laid down by the government - especially History where Stalin’s part in the 1917 Revolution and his relationship with Lenin was overplayed. Books were strictly censored by the state and Stalin ordered the writing of a new book called "A short history of the USSR" which had to be used in schools.

Outside of school, children were expected to join youth organisations such as the Octobrists for 8 to 10 year olds and the Pioneers for the 10 to 16 year olds. From 19 to 23 you were expected to join the Komsomol. Children were taught how to be a good socialist/communist and an emphasis was put on outdoor activities and clean living.

There was a marked increase in the attacks on the churches of the USSR throughout the 1930’s. Communism had taught people that religion was "the opium of the masses" (Karl Marx) and church leaders were arrested and churches physically shut down. Stalin could not allow a challenge to his position and anybody who worshipped God was a challenge as the "personality cult" was meant for people to worship Stalin.

<quoted text>
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Stalin#Re...
Raised in the Georgian Orthodox faith, Stalin became an atheist. He followed the position adopted by Lenin that religion was an opiate that needed to be removed in order to construct the ideal communist society. His government promoted atheism through special atheistic education in schools, anti-religious propaganda, the antireligious work of public institutions (Society of the Godless), discriminatory laws, and a terror campaign against religious believers. By the late 1930s it had become dangerous to be publicly associated with religion.[95]
Stalin's role in the fortunes of the Russian Orthodox Church is complex. Continuous persecution in the 1930s resulted in its near-extinction as a public institution: by 1939, active parishes numbered in the low hundreds (down from 54,000 in 1917), many churches had been leveled, and tens of thousands of priests, monks and nuns were persecuted and killed. Over 100,000 were shot during the purges of 1937–1938.[96][97] During World War II, the Church was allowed a revival as a patriotic organization, and thousands of parishes were reactivated until a further round of suppression during Khrushchev's rule. The Russian Orthodox Church Synod's recognition of the Soviet government and of Stalin personally led to a schism with the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia.
Just days before Stalin's death, certain religious sects were outlawed and persecuted. Many religions popular in ethnic regions of the Soviet Union, including the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Catholic Churches, Baptists, Islam, Buddhism, and Judaism underwent ordeals similar to that which the Orthodox churches in other parts of the country suffered: thousands of monks were persecuted, and hundreds of churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, sacred monuments, monasteries and other religious buildings were razed. Stalin had a different policy outside the Soviet Union; he supported the Communist Uyghur Muslim separatists under Ehmetjan Qasim in the Ili Rebellion against the Anti Communist Republic of China regime. He supplied weapons to the Uyghur Ili army and Red Army support against Chinese forces, and helped them establish the Second East Turkestan Republic of which Islam was the official state religion.

About the Author
Chris Trueman BA (Hons), MA set up www.historylearningsite.co.uk in 2000 as he felt there was no easily accessible and comprehensive website on World History on the web. The site has grown in popularity and is now viewed by hundreds of thousands of people each month from around the world.

Chris has written all the content for the site from his in-depth knowledge of History having taught History and Politics at a major secondary school in England for the last 26 years. Chris graduated with a BA (Honours) in History from Aberystwyth University, Wales in 1979 and has since studied at Loughborough University and gained a MA in management from Brighton University in 2000.

As well as History, Chris teaches British and American Politics at advanced level and both subjects are covered in depth on his site. Current plans for the site include a major section on British History in the Twentieth Century, an in-depth study on Stuart England targeted at those studying at Advanced level and work on the Falklands War to commemorate the 25th anniversary of this conflict.

Chris has made every effort to be as unbiased and objective as possible in presenting the facts and interpreting events. If you feel that a particular area needs attention do not hesitate to send in any information or opinion that you may have. Chris will consider it for inclusion on the site.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Libra

You're in an idealistic mood today and only want to see the best in other people. This is typical Libran behaviour, because you aren't good at facing up to harsh reality at the best of times. Today, you're ready to believe that someone is a candidate for sainthood or that they're the best thing that's ever happened to you, regardless of whether it's true or not.
