Please note that for this article "Atheism" also includes agnostics, deists, pagans, wiccans... in other words non-religious.

You will notice this is a statement of fact. And to be fact it is supported by evidence (see references below). Now you can have "faith" that this is not true, but by the very definition of faith, that is just wishful thinking.

It is natural to feel concerned when people are suffering.

It is the sort of Islamist, sectarian dogma such as you express that is objectionable. It is religiously motivated sectarianism, ingnorance, and contempt for education and democracy that need to be challenged.

Yes...I've read several of his books. I was pointing out his credentials, and the fact he believes Jesus was a real person.

A lifelong evangelical only recently self proclaimed agnostic who believes but can't prove and he even admits that. His argument states you have to believe Paul to believe Jesus existed yet that is a horrible argument because Paul never met Jesus!

First, tell me what difference the degrees I have make.

If an idea and the truth stand on their own merit, they should make no difference at all.

I'll wait for your answer ......

It is an interesting "twist" on the usual Christian scam of claiming to be a "former atheist", but equally ineffective and silly.

Their claims mean nothing it is their proof that is the sum of their argument. And for being a smart dude I can only contend that Bart Ehrman is retreating to his old evangelical roots with his argument that Jesus existed.

Lee Strobel is sad because he admits he converted because his wife gave him an ultimatum, convert or she would leave him!

Let's look at this from an academic standpoint as Professor Ehrman does. Now you can argue he is "biased" to beleive, perhaps he is...but the flip side of that is a "bias" not to beleive. He has spent a great deal of his adult life studying, teaching, and writing about early Christianity. It's accurate to say he is an expert in his field. If he, which he has, expresses the belief that Jesus existed, why should anyone not consider the possiblity that he is right? We're not talking about some guy that has a velvet Jesus on the wall of his trailer.

Then Lee made a very poor choice. Probably has never had any say in his own home since then.

One other point, will a person who doesn't believe Jesus existed, be convinced by someone like Professor Ehrman? Will someone who does believe Jesus existed find validation of his/her belief in Bart Ehrman's work/books?

You keep avoiding this but it doesn't matter who said Jesus existed, it's the proof they are able to present. Bart's proof is because Paul said so yet he admits Paul never met Jesus.

Is it sinking through yet?

Argument from authority logical fallacy. Sorry you either have secular proof or you don't.

That is indeed possible, if he presents verifiable evidence, which he hasn't.
Pietro Armando wrote:

Not any kind of real validation as in verifiable evidence. More like "validation" as in "emotional support for believing in silly crap".
