Could you tell me more about the 7 Great Clans. I have heard of them but i try to stay away for separating myself from others by being in a specific group or clan. However, my curiosity has gotten the best of me.

There are books on this subject. Many are fantasy, few are true studies. Bloodwitch or pure-blood witch is common in all Elden ancestry.

There were seven hundred original tribes of man. In those tribes there were Necromancer, Seer, Conjurer, Mystic, Herbalist, Healer and Sorcerer tribes. They break down to seven disciplines, however all are "Witches"
Fantasy works of Cate Tierman bring to light those tribes in a fanciful light.
Lillithian lore speaks of the seven witch mothers.
Lilith, First bride of Adam.
Viagrin, the fallen of Ur.
Thagrin, the dark Sorcerer.
Patronus, the seer.
Ovea the, goddess
Niahenaia, the healer.
Trova, one who spoke to spirits.

In essence, you can find seven times seven root Elden Witch tribes depending on the direction you take. There are seven witches in biblical myth. Seven in the book of nod. Seven in the Tianic texts. Seven in the writings of Cunningham. The list is virtually endless because of the seven root disciplines.

What Is a blood-witch capable of? Any of the above disciplines as part of their nature.

I believe that the "Woodbane clan attaches to Thagrin. I might be in error and would have to look in my library. In any instance the name denotes the sorcerers discipline.

Wicca and other "Green Witch" crafts are more the discipline of Niahenaia. Healers arts.

Though Wicca is the forefront of known magic craft it is not the only craft nor is it the oldest. Most Wiccans know this and seek out the Elden followers to learn more of the seven discilpines. The beauty of Wicca and it's followers is the discovery they seek and their loving open minds. To you Wiccans I offer brightest blessings.

Tian-mon,

Your gentle and kind words about Wiccans soothe my soul. It seems a bit of the 'in' thing these days to bash us and focus on 'not so' great individuals in our path, and worse to explode them into negative stereotypes for all of us (I am, actually, speaking of the greater Pagan community, alas).

There are alot of great and accepting people in Asheville where I live, but on the greater global scale... well, not so much!

Forgive me if you have spoken of it before I came on here, but I would be interested in any connections your Elden lore has to Faery?- the beings, not the traditions, that is!

Blessings upon you,
Shine

We have records of the Fae up until 1412. Then as with many things records vanish. It was said by the Elden that Fae went into another time/dimension along with the Dragon and Unicorn. This is all speculation at this point because the writings that have been salvaged were made by people that were questioned as to mental stability. Realizing that those who questioned and persecuted the writers of that history were those of re-constructionist catholicism... The scales teeter side to side.

We have some rather astounding written observations during the 600s CE. Magic sharing unity between species in places like the England Ireland France and Italy. How accurate again they are is unknown. Unfortunately todays world has deemed the Fae(Faeries Elves Gnomes etc) myth and legend along with dragons. Several Merlyn (Title not name) wrote of the forest fae and their magics. These Magics lost to us because of Myth making intellects.

Yes we have some rather descript Tomes and ledgers on fae magic if you would like to delve further. As far as practice or creating an actual discipline from those writings, I fear that possibility has vanished with the fae. Our Neveline Order has tried to recreate the disciplines to no avail.

Aren't there other orders that are working on those books? I thought that the folks in Scotland had them.

Thank you all for the information.. I was mostly curious because I do have such ties from my heritage in Scotland, but I rather not do much research. And in response to CShine, I am sorry to say hun but bashing Wicca and all things related has been a "time honored" tradition among the other religions for hundreds of years. And I hope that you all can detect the sarcasm in "time honored"

Okay at this point time to sound insane (but in a healthy way!) again! I'm fairly sure that as a kid I had a fae friend ~(there's much about my childhood that is all blanks). My mother recounted to me off her own design how I'd never walk in between doorways without a push or being dragged. Just as we were talking about this I wondered if there was a connection to my "invisible" friend (to which my mother had re-told me about as well).

I guess I'm just asking really if any of this sounds familiar to any of you familiar with any entities with traits like these? I'm working on visiting my faery-friend in meditation again and seeing if she can shed any light! But any insight would be greatly appreciated?

This was what I was trying to get at on the other thread! Sorry for the ring around Sora! Please if you wouldn't mind telling me the names and a little about them?

You have opportunity during meditation to look through the "shimmer" or vale between dimensions.
Several of our Students of fae magic had similar experiences to yours as young people.
I would suggest this be the path you take. As you are known to your fae guardian and time holds no place in the myst that forms this dimensional vale you may reconnect.

Pay close attention to what you sense.
During the separation of times magics did go to the other two times. Some were lost to us for reasons. It has been centuries since those magics left to this time have all been put to use. We regularly rediscover old paths and magics for those paths.

Indeed there are. The Bower triad have the books and have some new theories. Will we get a report in my life time or yours? I'm not sure, these studies take years.

This wouldn't be the same Woodbane,(as in Brightendales,Burnhides,Leapva ughns,Rowanwands,Vikroths,Wood banes,and Wyndenkells)in the roleplaying game'Covenstead',based on the characters from children's fiction writer,Cate Tiernan?

Thank you Tian! I have to admit the weatehr here as been so fantastically hot that meditation has just led to me falling asleep! But I could do with setting the time for meditation!

For some reason she does not like my shoes being tied!! Since re-acknowledging her presence she has continually untied my runners and that used to happen a lot as a kid!?! Just feel sometimes that all that time denying it has made returning to this Path more arduous than it needed to be!?!

Sora once it breaks none of your clans rules or codes of conduct I would very much like to hear about Woodbanes! But if it stands a chance of getting you into trouble please don't! We can still share ideas and opinions on different topics!

One of the saddest parts of youth is being blinded by opinion. Parents who say things do not exist or clergy that frighten children into disbelief.

Pulling of hair, untying shoes or any such activity is the same as being pushed back into your chair. It is a notification of presence.

Returning to believing in the fae or any guardian spirit is challenging. Getting beyond the doubts created by years of teaching is difficult to say the least. The awareness that meditation brings helps. You might also try practices such as candle peering or identifying silence.
