When do you know if you are truly Wiccan?

I'm fourteen and am currently studying Wicca. I found that mainstream Christianity was, in truth, hypocritical. My father says i shouldn't come 'out of the closet' until I turn eighteen.
However my main question is when do you know you are a Wiccan?

Mmmnnn, when you have learned enough about it to decide you are ready to committ to it. Some people may ccelebrate and mark that with a little ceremony, usually with an oath that you are committed and prepared to accept all that comes with that. And if Wiccan, usually as an oath to a Moon Goddess and Horned God.

The ideal thing to do if your a solitary is to practice the faith a year and a day. Right now you are a Seeker and after the year and a day you must ask yourself if you are Wicca. If so then you should know what to do form your studies. If not then keep studying till you do or find a new path. I hope this helps. Feel free to ask more.

That's what I am doing. I'll be ready to dedicate myself in April. I'm finding it was a great decison to wait and learn before dedicating myself.

Hold true to the faith of your parents, until your life becomes your own. learn from your parents, honor your mother and father...then when you are your own, lite out, become yourself.

At your age you are still theirs. Hold to them, learn from them. Enjoy being theirs, you will be yours soon enough, remembering home.

Honor your Mother and Father. Life is too long not too.

Interested, what a weird post.
To the OP, there are many different paths to follow. If Wicca appeals to you great, take as long as you need to learn and grow. You are still young, it is important you don't neglect the rest of your life to persue this path. Wait, grow, and figure out what's right for you.

12? you are way to young to make a final decision on your spiritual path at this time. I would suggest you learn all you can, read, talk. Figure out who you are before deciding which spiritual path to take. If you are using the phrase "I'm into Wicca," you definetly need to contemplate more about your life.

I'm 17 years old, and I dont know what to do. My parents are Luthern, and thats how they've raised me.. only..since the 4th grade I've known that something greater, something more beautiful existed, and have wanted to learn as much as I could about it. My mom and dad found out and took away all my Harry Potter books (Like that has anything to do with it). They told me over and over again that there was no such thing as "witchcraft", and made me repeat it. It was like I was being brainwashed or something. But as the years grew on, I still found that I wanted to know more about it. In the 9th grade, I learned that it was called Wicca. Mom and Dad found out about it again in the 10th grade, and threatened to move me to another school (I think they thought it was the people I was around. Haha, their funny). So now I'm not studying as much as I would like to. I have to go to church every sunday with them, and I just dont feel right about it anymore. I dont know what to do. I want to tell them, and get them to see what I find so amazing and beautiful, but.. I feel like they would hate me. Disown me even. One of my friends said that they wouldnt, but I dont think she knows them to well. I mean, its not like I'm going Catholic or something, I'm going Wiccan. What should I do? Any help? Please??

10 Things to Learn other then Wicca. It is similar to advice I have
given in the past. Most coven's don't take anyone under 18 and many
teens still live with anti-Wiccan parents. Obvious altars, athame's, having full ritual, etc. are out of the question. The advice I have given in the past is to learn the magical connections to things the young witch enjoys, from math to music. To slow down and smell the roses ~ get outside and hike or camp or garden. Learn about nature from nature and work on simple mental exercises of grounding, centering, visualization, meditation, breath work, etc. Read history and mythology books, Greek
plays & philosophy.

All these things a well-rounded Wiccan priestess make. If you've actually studied, learned and done some of these things while your young and have a chance, when you are 18 or 19 or whatever and finally on your own, you'll be in a much better position to enter a coven or the Pagan community as an earnest seeker or solitaire.

Well, hundreds of people go through this all the time. You are near 18 so don't sweat it too much. Like most young people who have deeply xtian parents you have to take it until you are an adult then basically tell them, "look, I love you guys and I appreciate all the things you've done for me growing up but I need to be my own person. I'm not happy as a Luthern and fell like there is more to my spirituallity than what the bible can offer."
The key is to keep your parents from feeling like you are a crazy person or that they have failed.
Don't sweat the religious thing, when you move out of your parents house and are able to practice whatever you want your life will even out and you will be able to express yourself.

Just remember, whatever reactions or emotions this brings out in them- they are still your parents who gave birth to you and raised you. Just like you love them despite their differences to you, they too, still love you.

I am 16 and have been going to Lutheran church since i was born and finished confirmation stuff 2 years ago. I have a friend who is Wicca and i have a few the books she has and listen to her talk about what being Wicca is about. Everything I read and heard made since to me unlike with Lutheran classes I took and when things didn't make I listened to the pastor and just had "faith" that is all made since. Especially the last few days I have had this feeling that maybe wicca is right for me. what do you think?

Learn as much as you can and dont rush into anything, how will it go down with your folks? If it would create problems then you need to consider what changes it would make to your life.

My friend is getting free lessons from a guy on wicca[though she is doing it to become what i think was called first degree. Should maybe get his email and talk to him about my thoughts?
