Me too. I know that some of the groups claiming to be Asatru or Odinist follow a white supremacist philosophy. However, I don't know anything about this particular group.

Well, I went to their website, and this is their introduction:
Introduction
1.Raven's Folk Kindred is a traditional Odinist Kindred of men and women, freemen and incarcerated.
2.We are only subject to Althing, the direction of the Kindred is to be determined by consensus at annual Althing. Hearths are autonomous in regard to goals and practice.
3.We do not tolerate gang activity(within the kindred), drug abuse or chronic alcoholism. To our best efforts we will help in a person’s sobriety but insist on sobriety.
4.We do not promote violence or illegal acts, such behavior will not be tolerated and the member will be banished if acts persist without reformation of one’s values or justification for particular acts.
5.We do not accept into our flock to share horn with child molesters, homosexuals or a person of non-Germanic and Kindred tribes origin. Upon profession one must swear to be none of the above.
6.We are a polytheistic religion based on the Norse Gods and Goddesses. To be a member one has to formally denounce the desert based religions and vow one’s life to the service of the Aesir and Vanir. To be a member on must fill out an application and vow to the furtherance of our folk. There is a three month probationary period before the member makes formal profession.
7.We have no official leader, we have annual Althing and the elected leader of the Hearth is the Gothi or Gythia of that Hearth. If a person is a lone wolf than they are the Gothi/Gythia of their home. We practice and believe in free assembly, none of our Folk should be a slave to any man or organization.
8.We do not discourage members to be affiliated with other Odinist or Asatru groups. To be a member of the Raven’s Folk Kindred one can be a member of the Odinic Rite, AFA, etc. We are simply, a kindred of Odinist that seek to unify Kinsmen who are Folkish and promote our ancestral heritage.
9.We have a prison outreach that serves CCI in California and correspondence with several other institutes.
10.There are no dues or fees. If there is a need in the folk community this will be known and whosoever in freewill steps up to the plate will do so for the benefit of Our Folk.
11.We believe that it is a mandate to secure the existence of our Folk and a future for our progeny.
12.We believe that the Will of our Folk is our directive.
13.We hold that the Runes are Holy and Sacred and should be learned. Our profession aught to be written in and bled by our own hand in the Elder Futhark.
14.We celebrate traditional Odinist observances and Days of Remembrance. Gothis/Gythias are encouraged to create a book of Blotar for their particular Hearth.

Numbers 5 and 6 are of interest in this case; they do not seem as much white supremacist as they are separatist.

One of their links goes to this:
http://www.odinic-rite.org/nowicca.html
which basically states that:
There may be an even more sinister motive behind the Wiccan idea of a union with Odinism and with the Odinic Rite. Wicca has never kept secret its 'feminist' roots and that it worships 'the Goddess', so making it matriarchal. Odinism has never been patriarchal but the Wiccan movement has always declared it to be so. In trying to unite with Odinism it could be trying to cause a 'magical event-act' whereby the union of opposites is the end result. This motive alone is enough reason for the Odinic Rite never to make any type of alliance with them. Odinists hold to their kinfolk and to our past, but only in order to create a future for our folk. Wicca, in taking oaths to continue the Great Work, and thus all its adherents who have sworn this oath, is sworn to the destruction of our folk. There is reason enough never to compromise with such people.

I think this is the tradition some of our recent "trolls" have come from.

Personally, I do follow the religion of my ancestors. But I know that the gods of any tradition may have called on me; as a former agnostic, I was a rather difficult nut for them to crack, so my own heritage was the best route to reach me. I've found that people who are first feeling the call of the old ones often find an initial connection through their own ancestry, and then hear the call they are most drawn to - sometimes from gods of a very different tradition. There are so many traditions in our wonderful big world, that starting out with one's own roots can give the spirit a place to stay connected and focused. Otherwise you end up with the "flavor of the month" new-agers, and people who are willing to exploit other faiths. Native American faiths have been victim to this sort of exploitation for decades.

I have no sympathy or tolerance for groups that practice discrimination. As far as I'm concerned, they can go pound sand.

Yes, its racist - with their "only germanic decent" bs. Yes, I disagree with it - whole heartedly. Odin is far more interested in the strength of your soul and the iron in your mettle than the color of your skin.
However, that has nothing to do with it. Its a public park and the public should have equal access to it. This was ridiculous.

That, and their prohibitions against homosexuals.

as much as i might dislike it, i think they should have just as much right to practice as thier religous beliefs as i do. becuase if you start to take away thier rights then you start to loose you own with them. let them do as they please and pay them liitle mind.

So long as their beliefs do not encourage the persecution of others, I agree. As it has been stated before, your right to swing your fist ends when it touches my person.

Regardless of what the basis of peoples beliefs are, they have a right to practice those beliefs as long as they aren't harming anyone or infringing on anyone elses rights.

Unpopular groups need to be awarded the same rights and privileges as everyone else, or we place the power to decide who has rights in the hands of law enforcement.. which history has proven is a very very bad thing. Sounds and awfully lot like Nazi Germany. It's kind of funny actually... in order to not be like Nazi Germany we need to allow equal rights to Nazis.(Please note, I'm not suggesting these Olinists are Nazis or even anti Semitics... Nazis are just such extremists that they make good examples)

It's my guess that this park ranger is some kind of christian fundie. They seem to get the sht scared out of them whenever they run across someone whose beliefs challange their own. Comes from having a house of cards for a belief system.

I think there is kinship pride goin on with this group. What concerned me was their toughts on we wiccans. But, I do believe that there is something for everyone. As long as they "HARM NONE" then let the Ravens celebrate their German roots.

Hmmn, kinda interesting to see a conspiracy theory about Wicca for once that does not involve Satanism and the banking industry.

Of course, the danger comes in that they have pointed to a specific villian for any members that may have violent tendancies. Of course, that is always a risk even with an individual (as in the lone gunman who 'decided' that a particular UU church in Knoxville was solely responsible for his lack of employment). It's just of some concern and something to watch out for, despite their rule on paper against non-violence, the reality is that intolerance and the need to point to specific groups as "Other/excluded" can lead to a violent expression of the fear/dis-satisfaction with their existance.

Very sad, if unabated runic symbols will take on a new meaning based in segregation and hatred.

Re: http://www.odinic-rite.org/nowicca.html

Excerpt: "How can Odinism reconcile itself to Wicca which takes the path of darkness? And how can Odinists make alliance with those who would consciously will the 'dissolution of all barriers that hinder the free exchange of nations, races and sexes ', which means the total destruction of all nations, races and sexual differences? And the 'event-act' aggregated to produce a 'new god' could only produce a new manifestation of the Dark Lord for the new age that is dawning!"

Me: Come to the dark side. We have better cookies, and chocolate. We even have vodka chocolates from the Euromarket.

But, I digress. I wish the author could please explain to me why the birth of a new god (never mind that is not really the purpose of Wicca, actually) would have to be a “Dark Lord”? Is it going to be Tim Curry?

Oh, and explain why the dissolution of barriers (i.e without the hindrance of pre-conceived bigotry, stereotypes or fear of differences) means the dissolution of all nations, races, and sexes? If Crowley’s vision was that there would be free exchange between these defined groups, it kinda sorta implies the continued existence of said groups.
