We recently had a good windstorm here in the Asheville area. I had a chance to ride around seeing all the downed branches. I took the opportunity to collect the Previo.

The Previo, is a set of four pieces of wood from brances with the bark stripped off and allowed to dry. They should be about as big around as your index finger and as long as yourhand from wrist to the tipof your index finger.

Once you have stripped the bark off and they have dried you draw, carve or burn two X's on one side at the two ends and one X on the other side in the middle. This will create 16 different patterns that the Previo can come up with when tossed and straightened for readings.

To toss the Previo gather all four into your hand, holding your hand to your forehead ask the question you desired answered. Then lean forward and drop the Previo onto the table. then with no thought to anything alighn the 4 sticks parallel to you with the one closest to you at the bottom.

Here are the 16 different patterns with a very basic meaning of the pattern.

We have made arrangements, gotten the box for the Post. It will leave tomorrow in the morning Post. Which means it will be in transit during the full moon.

Now to this site? Why?

I have brown large nipples lol,

Ok, why this site you ask, because i think you have a quality that many have not got, i think your wisdom should go down in history,.. well internet history atleast..

I am a webmaster, i do sites for clients and friends, it is what i do, like a publisher would publish your biography a webmaster would do the same online.. and in your words.

We would have to be in contact often, you would foward me notes that you want on the site, you would tell me the title of the pages as if they were chapters and you would decide what material to use and most of all you would name the site personally as if it was your own book about to go to print.

The content is up to you, but i personally think you are one of a kind... and i for one would like to know more about you.

The site i use has 25 pages... can you work with that or would you want more?

i use fasthost, i had the globalwitches up and running in 3 days... i am hoping to take much longer with you. not something i want you to rush.

like a book it can remain private, unpublished, for only you to see, maybe to send to your family, but with the click of a button it can be made public, the choice is yours and yours alone.

You have my email addy, and i have your friendship no matter what you decide to do.

I also have a very neat hand made box with some beatiful cards on its way from you and Anton, you are bith simply the best.x

Hello!

I was wondering about the history of the Previo. It sounds like an interesting divinatory system, and I've never heard of it before. Can you share some history information about it? I'm interested... thanks!

Anything you want on those pages can be added, from youself, Koldunia, and your Wondeful Mother, you would post to me what you want on there...just like posting apage of a book, it can be in any language you like, maybe if it is from your Mother then you can translate what she has written and we can then post Russian and English version.

it would be the same as what you are doing with your Kolduny Tarot part 1, 2 and 3 on Tiamatsvision, but it will be your own site and you can add anything you like.

If ever you felt confident to edit the site yourself i would be glad to show you how, and you would have your own access area so you could edit what you like and when, no one can access the admin area but you and I and i will only go on there to add pages.

www.globalwitches.com is one i have worked on for a few weeks now as i said, imagine a site like that but with your pictures, your words, your mothers teachings. and it will not cost you anything...except your time.

Thankyou for sending m,y prezzie today, its gona be beautiful I just know it.xxx

The Origins of the Previo are from ancient Russia, or the land of Rus. How it started I am not sure. It has been around for a long time. I was taught this by women in my family. After particularly hard snows or spring wind storms that would break large branches off trees, people would gather the downed limbs to make the Previo.

It is a tradtional form of divination among the people of Russia. Birch was the branch of choice but I have seen Previos made of many different types of wood. Some are quite elaborately carved and painted, I have even seen some with small faces carved where the "X's" of a simple peasant Previo would be.

As for the power of the tree to be able to "see". As it was explained to me a Tree does nothing but observe everything in it's life, the tree also listens to the songs of birds that migrate across nations and sing of what they have seen. They are fed by clouds that cover the earth with no boundaries...trees, are wise indeed, and when given the opportunity to speak do so powerfully.

Of course the downed branches were used for much more then making the previo, limber branches would be used for making baskets, the bark would be used as well for needfull things.

Thats really interesting, thanks for sharing! I wish that there were more trees in my neighborhood- I'm definitely a "tree" person. I think that its interesting that you know so much about Russian traditions... everyone talks about Celtic/Greek/Italian, etc... but we rarely get to hear about the customs of the Russian people.

a Friend of mine and I use the down limbs for making wooden runes. His brother told him to use nut tree limbs and the storms last week gave us plenty of material to work with.

What cannot be used as such, I keep and use for the BBQ grill. PEcan flavor meat is so tasty!

My husband every Febuary goes to the apple orchards to get the branches from the fruit tree prunings, which he uses to do "runes" of course his for personal use are a bit different, based upon the Rus, but he makes many for friends from different traditions, the Elder Futhark for some the old Anglo Saxon or Pictish for others, my personal favorite is the Theban, such a pretty and lyrical alphabet.

LadyEagleSpirit?

Would you like a set of runes from the land of the Cherookee? Anton makes some very nice ones. I make the bags that hold them. We are knowledgable of different scripts, or if you have a custom just forward it to us.

Anton is a pretty talented woodworker. This is a free offering, a set for the asking. If you would like.

I want to make sure we get the right runes for you, are the ones here what you were refering to?

http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/layouts.html

Anton made me a bench and a casting table out in the front garden under the Magnolia tree. The casting table has the 1st second and third Airt burned into it. He made it from a Maple tree that had been struck by lightening, it still has the bark around the edges and is very nice. He has a small talent when it comes to wood working.

At any rate check out the sight and let me know if this is what you meant when you said the old Norse runes.
