The only way to get Johnsonís war stopped was to spit on the DRAFTED troops. So you put on stupid pink hats and pretend you care about people that make a choice to protect our country, hoping the blind conservatives will not see you repeating history. I am one but I see your vile hatred on the military and I will pray that your false concern is revealed.

Our troops are cleaning up the mess started by business people over 50 years ago. The extremist waited ELEVEN years between attacks. Yet this is only a Bush invention? History does not begun nor ended in eight years. Clinton must also carry the blame for 9-11 because he did not believe the first attack would be repeated.

The information was not mine, it was quoted from CodePink website: please read the entire message and see http://www.codepink4peace.org/article.php ...

Anyway, if you call a group of idealists as "hippies", well this is a syllogism with no solid bases.

I don't hate the military or anyone in it. I have many friends who did a tour or three who don't agree with the war, and many who agree with it now but not with the initial justification. There are men who went into the war believing it was right who came out so vehemently against it they decided to run for political office to oppose it. There are men who have lost life and limb who did not believe in this war but did so because it was their duty as americans and as members of our armed forces. I don't pretend to be a military man, but as the son, grandson and good friend to a host of military men, I am insulted by your insinuation.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11. The only person osama hated more than he hates Americans was a secular leader of a predominantly muslim nation, ie Saddam. As for 9/11, it takes more than a president to ignore the warning signs. We're all guilty of complacency. It still doesn't justify what we've done in Iraq.

Well, did you think he was going to reply with a reasoned response? He just wants to insult people. He has nothing but hate to argue with and therefore wont respond to a reasoned arguement with any intellectuality only venum. Fact is that there are so many people these days whose politics are built on hatred, they love "their guys" no matter how stupid they may be, and they hate the "other guys" no matter how much intelegence they have. You find haters left right and center. They blame everything on the other side, if only their party had control america would be a utopia.

This person is so blinded by his hatred of Bush that he can't see anything past it. Bush isn't a great president, I have spent most of the last 8 years disagreeing with him. But just disagreing is not enough with these p[eople, if you don't share their deranged hatred then you are a rightwing nutjob and a warmonger. It doesn't matter wether you agree with the war or not, if you don't espouse imediate withdrawl from Iraq then you are a warmonger. If you don't believe that the correct responce to 9-11 was a international mea culpa and an apology for america's existance then you are a rightwing imperialist. In these people's minds america is a horrible country that rapes the world, stealing all the resources, pillaging third world countries and inslaving all who are useful to us. If we are attacked we deserve it. No wars are justified. America is the great Satan. And Bush is the imbodiment of all they hate about this country. If only we would behave like France or Germany, if only we would be like the cultured Europeans, then we may someday live down our evil reputations.

Fact is, in my mind, if we abandon the Iraqies now then they wont last a year. We have dismantled their military, they are defenceless. If we leave them now we will prove to the world that america can't be trusted to keep it's word. We broke it, we bought it. Many folks wanted us to get out of Japan and Germany after WWII that would have been a big mistake. If we hadn't protected Japan and helped it rebuild, it would be a teritory of China right now. If we hadn't stuck around in Germany they would belong to Russia. If we leave Iraq, Iran will over run them. They would then only trade one dictatorship for another.

P.S. Hey, rather then Just Observing... If you want to get us out of Iraq faster, why not donate money to one of the many charitable organizations helping in that country? Just google "charitable organizations Iraq". Or goto the red cross or red crescent websites. HMMM?

I agree, equality should be just that. It is not just a balance between male and female either, we need to understand and respect the balance that exists between life and death, light and dark, etc. All aspects are needed to create a harmonious world.

In all fairness, people just try to stir the fire and when you resort to name calling it makes you just as bad as them. That being said, I am not bashing you in any fashion.

My point really is there is a more eloquent way of expressing your opinion without sinking into the ranks of people like that.:)

Oh no, I've been labeled. Man, I have no comeback for that!

Yup, I'm a hippie, and happy to be one. My kid hugs trees on the way home from the park and my next car will be a hybrid. I think every little bit helps no matter how small and I don't care how naive the pessimists think I am.

I'd rather expect the best and be wrong than expect the worst and be right.

Yeah, I wasn't a big Gore fan, actually. I wasn't too keen on Kerry either, but hey, you gotta work with what you've got. I sure as heck wasn't going to vote for Ralph 'raise the minimum wage to 8.00 an hour immediately' Nader and you've probably figured out by my unabashed comment that I'd dig my own grave before voting for Bush. So had Bush not been such an issue for me I likely would have voted a blank ticket.(Note, I still would have voted).

I can fully understand. While I think being liberal is a mental disease, Bush is the biggest failure since Carter.

"Hippie"?

Not a chance.

I know all you folk in that part of California are convinced you are a bunch of hippies as much as everyone in Hollywood thinks they are an actor.

If I lived in your part of the world, I would hug the garbage cans as well as the trees...I would LIVE in the garbage cans ffs!
