Also from the Jewish Encyclopedia,ďSatan has no power of independent action, but requires the permission of God, which he may not transgress. He can not be regarded, therefore, as an opponent of the Deity.Ē
In Job, God granted such permission. The Jews donít consider him evil. They consider him as doing his Job as instructed by God. He is just following Godís orders.
The word Satan is also used as another name for temptation. Jesus uses it that way. God gave us the ability to make choices. Bad choices are considered sins. Satan doesnít make us make those bad choices. Just like God doesnít make us make good choices. WE have the freedom to make our own choices. ALL sin and fall short. Isnít it what it has been written? Hence, Satan will be there on Judgement day, making sure all our shortfalls are known. His Ďevilí is that he will be tattling.
Next time you hear a child tattle, keep in mind, that is exactly what Satanís job is. And no one likes a tattler. <grin> They get us in trouble. Not by making us make bad choices. But because they report them. WE are to blame, not the tattler.
WE chose to follow our selfish desires. Blaming it on Satan is using him as a scrapegoat for our bad choices. It shows immaturity and lack of accepting responsibility for our choices. Satan isnít the source, we are.
Claiming that folks are following Satan is saying that Satan is a deity that can be followed. That he is independent of God. In Job, Satan had to have premission, he isnít independent of God. He didnít try to get Job to Ďfollowí him, he tried to get him to sin against God to prove that he (Job) was unworthy. Hence, itís impossible for those in the Wiccian religon to work for him.

<quoted text>In this particular case in Colorado, the killer sought revenge against Christians, from his own words on a web site; "especially Christians who are to blame for most of the problems in the world". At Columbine one of the shooters asked if anyone believed in Jesus Christ, a female student replied yes and was shot and killed. These actions speak for themselves. I just wanted to make the point that the bible is true in saying that we will suffer for our belief.

Sorry to break this to ya but christians are to blame. In their desire to controll the world, they do far more harm than any good. But, unfortunatly, christianity is a valid religion, evil but valid so whether I like it or not and/or agree with it or not, I must respect its existance and the right of some to practise it.

What ? Harry potter ? You gotta be kidding. You might as well take out any and all books with just a bit of fantasy in them then. With illiteracy so high and most kids not even liking to read now-a-days, the last thing we need to be doing is censoring librarys. Ive always believed that if you dont like a certain kind of book or whatever then dont read it but dont tell others what they can or cant read. Its their choice. More to the point, if parents live the example then children are more likely to follow.
Most public libraries, and many public school libraries contain the Bible, the Book of Mormon, and other religious works.

<quoted text> Then the Bible should be allowed as well. HP books speaks of witchcraft which is a form of " religion". As some have said that the bible speaks of violence that took place, it is a history book. And I know some are gonna say " separation of church and state" it is a history book and should be allowed as well.

No where in any of the books and yes, Ive read all 7 of them, is witch craft mentioned. The female students of hogwarts are called witches while the male students are called wizards. Those are just terms that j.k. rowling used to diffrentiate between them. It doesnt promote any kind of religion, pagan or otherwise although you could say that it borders on promoting christianity because of the characters celebrating the british version of christmas.
Now, its very well known that if you bible thumpers had your way, schools would be pushing christianity down the throats of students which would be a blatant violation of the constitutional clause dealing with the seperation of church and state but I reckon that you fools just want to seperate the state from any religion but your own. I love exposing ya'll's hypocrisy.

OK, below are two quotes from "scott". Compare, contrast and discuss.

"People who follow false religions always veil their beliefs in a charade that they believe in good. While all the while plan repression world domination and furthering the desires of their master. I wish to further the desires of my master Jesus to love God with all my heart all my soul and all my might. And to love all of my neighbors of all ethnos with love and as i love myself. And treating them with honor and respect."

"There is a silent moral majority. We rule this country and we will rule the universe. We are heirs and co heirs with christ. And we are already seated with Him. That's why we often sound the same. For we often speak by the same Spirit."

The children that are into things like that are NOT reading HP books to be that way. They are missing guidance and love in there lives and thats where the parants and our comunity need to get involved. It takes a whole comunity to raise our children, not just the parents.

Thank you for pointing out the truth about the harry potter series. However, I must disagree with you on why children get into wicca or some other branch of paganism, at least, on the whole. I believe that many of them get into wicca or other form of paganism simply because, for them, the christian lifestyle doesnt work. It could be inferred from your post that pagan parents or for that matter, atheistic parents have no sense of good parenting skills or the difference between whats right and whats wrong. As a pagan though not a parent, I disagree. Ironicly, it was in part because of my strong sense of morality that I became a witch in the first place. Thank you again for being more open minded than some of the other folks here.

Thank you da broad and merry meet to ya. That just proves what Ive come to believe over the years, namely that christianity is its own worst enemy in that the evil it preaches against is more often to be found within itself than without. Still, to be fair, I do acknowledge that there are some who practise christianity with respect to and for others who are different from them and this is the only reason I would consider christianity to be a valid religion. It is also true that there is evil in all religions and/or groups but I havent seen any pagan groups looking to force their views on others as the christian groups so often do and thats what I take pleasure in putting the smack down on. As my hero optimus prime has said....Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.

He also doesn't want us to believe in God or especially Jesus. I don't mind his dis belief why does he mind my belief. God the Father will not judge non christians by a christian standard. Nor does the bible teach that people inhabit the hades realm or the lake of fire (later) for sin. The lake was only intended as puishment for lucifer for rebellion that happened long before us.(not our business). The lake was not made for or intended for man.

Do you have any actual proof that max is a nazi ? I would like to see it. As for his not wanting anyone to believe in the christian god, Id like to see your proof of that also. I havent read anything by him as of yet that indicates such things. As for this lake of fire thing, I admit that its been over 10 years since I read the bible but if I remember correctly, there is a passage in the book of revelations that indicate that the lake of fire is for the so called sinners.

I am just pointing out that many school libraries have them on the shelf if kids want them, just as many public libraries have them available for anyone. I have no problem with the books being on the shelf, as long as nobody is encouraging or making the children check them out or read them. If they were assigned reading or part of the educational curriculum, I would have a problem with it, but I have no problem the books getting dusty on the shelf, or being read by a curious child.

I know the second heaven is the realm of the evil one. That's why the belief systems sponsored by him always deal with the celestial beings. Any where where astrological signs identify there is reason to beware. Listen God has placed emnity(hatred) between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent forever. You being a human woman means he hates you more than I. He can't help it. You will never make peace with him. He hates you and all women for you bear the seeds.
What is this about a second heaven ? I dont ever recall reading of a second heaven in the bible....a second comming maybe but not a second heaven. Also...if jehovah hates women so much then why would any woman in her right mind want to follow him ? As for these seeds you seem to have a problem with.....were you born of a woman or were you hatched ? As for astrology, well aint it ironic that in the bible, its siad that many wise men knew of christs comming birth because they paid attention to the signs in heaven or rather the stars and wasnt there supposedly a single star shining over bethlehem the night of jesus's birth ? Curiouser and curiouser said alice.

Ahhh ok now I understand. Thank you and merry meet to you as well. I too wouldnt have a problem with religious books of any kind being in any library as long as there was no censorship of any religion different from them but unfortunatly as I know that your aware, that wouldnt be the case so...rather than favoring any one religion over any others, I would advocate that no religious books or matter should be allowed. By the way, I wasnt offended, just mystified.:)

Well.....I must give you proper credit....you actually read something other than the bible.....now lets see if you can really learn anything truthfull about wicca and/or paganism. You next assignment is to go to a wiccan site or a pagan site and study what we as wiccans and/or pagans actually do believe in general. For extra credit, please dont use the word satan or any other christian word for devil in your search. Yes, you must name all of your sources and yes, you should look at more than just one site. Lets see what you can learn from this.

How ironic that you should quote the constitution in regards to freedom of speech when any intelligent person would be able to see that the only freedom of speech you believe in is your own. Also you seem to be assuming that that particular clause also gives you the right to force your views on to others and in that your sadly mistaken. Its one thing to stand up and say "Im christian" or "Im whatever religion" and something else entirely to legislate your religion onto others whether they want it or not.
