from Alabama Live:

"'We felt this law was a challenge to the church's freedom to minister,' said Bishop Henry N. Parsley of the Episcopal Diocese of Alabama.

"'We feel it's mean-spirited and criminalizes charitable behavior,' said Bishop Robert J. Baker of the Catholic Diocese of Birmingham."

Although these clerics FEEL they are right, I THINK they're violating Paul's admonitions in Romans 13:1-5.

It's all about butts in pews and dollars in the collection plate. Americans are by and large no longer driven by fear of an imaginary sky buddy; churches need a fresh supply of ignorant believers that are motivated by fear.
