Living as a child in Central Ohio, I fondly remember many summers traveling to relatives out in the country.
At the time I didn't understand that many of those places we went to, had these wonderful 'church' kind of places where we would go into and be served wonderful dinners. The people didn't look very different than we did, but I remember they always treated us as if we were important out of town relatives.
The food was always simple yet very generous and tasted so good. And there was always wonderful desserts after.
It was only later in my late teens that I understood we had gone to Mennonite or Amish dinners at 'meeting houses'.
They never looked like churches I was used to. Just large halls filled with some of the nicest and friendliest people I ever encountered.
Thank you all for those times. The are very precious memories for me, and made a great impact on my spiritual developement.
