Politics, patriotism and the church

There are 1 comment on the ELCA.org story from Aug 8, 2012, titled Politics, patriotism and the church. In it, ELCA.org reports that:

A Ross Douthat column in the July 14, 2012, New York Times is titled, "Can Liberal Christianity Be Saved?" It includes interesting data on trends in membership of the Episcopal Church and how those trends may be related to shifting positions on theological and social issues.

interesting article. we need to rethink where the "Church" is going. The culture is not the authority for the church. when we decide to teach based on political or social worldviews, popular opinion , or the rapidly changing cultural norms we are headed in the wrong direction. If we attempt to miniize the aurhority or modify Gods word we lose the essence what it means to be christian. We then become nice people doing nice things like some other community group
