Pope to Protestants: Faith is not something that can be negotiated

Sep 23, 2011 Full story: www.romereports.com 100

Before taking on the trip to Germany, the pope said, he was asked to make so called religious compromises or 'ecumenical gifts' that could bring Lutherans and Catholics closer. The pope declined, saying this type of negotiation, reflects a misunderstanding between the meanings of faith and ecumenism.

Funny, he takes an entirely different approach with dissident Anglicans.

And anytime one defects to Catholicism, in the score-keeping Catholic media it's very much seen as "Catholics 1/Protestants 0".

NOBODY should listen to ANYTHING the pope, or any other Roman Catholic official, has to say, about ANYTHING.

The pope knows very little about faith. Salvation by faith (Luther) and salvation by a combination of faith and works (RCC) was the divider in the Reformation. The Roman Catholic Church codified the condemnation of salvation by faith at the Council of Trent following the death of Luther. The Canons and Decrees of the Council of Trent are still the official teaching of the Catholic church. They still know nothing of saving faith.

What if both catholics and lutherans are wrong?

I was raised catholic, went to a baptist church, then I had a near death experience. I learned that karma and past lives are realities and most religions are way off base and not spiritual.

Spirituality is found by living in peace with the Spirit of Tao (God, Deo, Theo). What you send out is what you will get back, what you plant is what you will harvest, what you give is what you will get in return multiplied. It's that simple and that complex.

Why does the pedophile Pope protect his pedophile priests, rather than children?

He says "Faith is not something that can be negotiated" yet in all of the Church's dealings over pedophile priests, the Church takes a very defensive, argumentative, and legalistic stance.

It is laughable that this pedophile Pope postures as being a moral or intellectual authority. He is a joke.

The issue of faith verses faith and deeds was settled by Saint Paul Himself, why it took almost 1500 years for Trent Council to decide it?

It is interesting to see most of the people on this thread (It seems that they belong to Protestant group) to criticise the Pope, Vicar of Christ and leader of 1.5 Billion Ctholics in the world.

Why you people do not learn manners and etiquetts?

That bad habit is not only found in RC priests, there are people from other groups also, why you only single them out for criticism. This is not fair.

There is no other group that has done as much to protect its pedophiles and obstruct justice, all the while posturing as having moral superiority. Where is your concern for "fairness" in the cases of the children who have been r*ped?

I am not protecting any guillty party and I am not against punishing those who are involved in such acts.

My question is that this evil practice is found in every church and when yu will have a gathering of such people and there is a privacy, such things are bound to happen.

Just to put your trust on "Good human nature" is not enough. That is why our religion stops every such gathering where there a seclution in which stranger men and women and / or men and smaall children could meet in privacy.

But this thing is very common in Western society and in every church. Sos uch cases are bound to happen. the presits and pastors are no angels, they are also human beings like any of us and each of them have the same sexual thoughts and desires as any of us.

That is why I found it unreasonable that all of your hate is directed towards RC and then at Pope.

You are right, people are usually here to make a lot of fun and laugh on others.

That is why these threads have beocme so much wastage of time and effort.

People are misusing a very powerful tool that has been given tot hem to discuss and know about each other.

People from different countries, different relegious and cultural and ethnic backgrounds can discuss freely and openly.

This is very powerful media for open discusssion.

But many people misuse it to vent their anger, frustation, and an opportunity to spread hate and hatred...

And that is what ruins the aim and spirit with which these threads were originated.

After five years or so, this is my general comment on these topix threads and this partciular thread is no exception.

People just write without thinking as to how much it will hurt the feelings and sensibilities of others.

It is very simple, and the formula is very simple and time tested "Do or say to others, what you wnat them to do or say to you".

And use kindler words if you have to choose between the two words carrying the same meaning.

And do not answer EVERY post adressed to you, pick and choose, there are people who just want to tease you, so that you loose your poise.
