They have the right to freedom of speech, press, expression, under the first amendment. Furthermore, I am an agnostic atheist.

However, I think this is stupid and silly and I do not think it is helpful to the cause of getting people to think seriously about issues relating to religious beliefs or practices.

Actually, from what I have seen it's not mocking, it's honesty. Just when you point out the dark side of the religious people to them, they think it's just mockery or "you don't understand" when we're just being honest. A sadistic god is a sadistic god.

what have you seen? have you seen such billboards? are you sure only religious persons have a dark side? what if they point out the dark side of persons who happen to be atheists?

Isn't the dark side, the actual doctrines of the various belief systems, which should be strongly criticized. and is there not in human and animal life a quality of cruelty and violence that is frightening at times? doesn't the streak of dark and light run through most people? is this not one of the grievances we have against the nature of the world, that makes us not worship a creator of such a flawed world?

There are photos of the billboards, sheesh, do you ever click on the links or just assume everything?

I never said they were the only ones with dark sides, more assumptions on your part.

The doctrines are a result of their delusions allowing them to follow their leaders blindly, they do exist, and burying your head in the sand doesn't make religion less of a mental illness or danger to the world.

These type of billboards let other atheists, who may feel that they are alone, know that there are others out here who don't believe in silly things.

Well, at least not religiously silly things.

I'm not happy with this latest version of billboards. I much prefer the "I'm an Atheist" series that FFRF put out a few years ago, or the "Good without god" series.

I live in Georgia and there are at least 10 Christian billboards within a 2 mile radius of my home. They change from time to time, but here's some of what I've seen:

- "Don't let them make a monkey out of you" (anti-evolution),

- "Anti-God is Anti-American. Anti-American is Treason",

- "Why do atheists hate America",

- "Don't make me come down there", and

One of my favorites was a picture of a fighter jet in flight with "God said 'this land belongs to Israel', Isn't it time to fight for your land" (so much for religion of peace).

Now I'm not saying 2 wrongs make a right (although 3 lefts often do). But let's be fair.

I should probably point out that this one was in downtown Atlanta and was timed to coincide with Netanyahu's visit here a few years back.

You complain about atheists and turn around and condemn religies, how arrogant, get off the fence.

Obama in a statement yesterday blamed the shocking new round of subprime-related bankruptcies on the free-market system, and specifically the "trickle-down" economics of the Bush administration, which he tried to gig opponent John McCain for wanting to extend.

But it was the Clinton administration, obsessed with multiculturalism, that dictated where mortgage lenders could lend, and originally helped create the market for the high-risk subprime loans now infecting like a retrovirus the balance sheets of many of Wall Street's most revered institutions.

Tough new regulations forced lenders into high-risk areas where they had no choice but to lower lending standards to make the loans that sound business practices had previously guarded against making. It was either that or face stiff government penalties.

The untold story in this whole national crisis is that President Clinton put on steroids the Community Redevelopment Act, a well-intended Carter-era law designed to encourage minority homeownership. And in so doing, he helped create the market for the risky subprime loans that he and Democrats now decry as not only greedy but "predatory."

The only thing Bush has had to do with this is that in 2004 he (along with McCain who cosponsored the bill) and a few other congressmen tried to overhaul and regulate how Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were run and their financing.

The Democrats Blocked the measure:

Top 3 receivers of Fannie Mae Funds.

Actually, gnostic and theist deal with two completely different aspects of humanity, and the labels describe two barely related concepts. An agnostic atheist is the most honest position anyone can take, it is saying "I don't know and I won't believe until I do know" instead of pretending to know.

Gnostic describing what you think you know.

Theist is describing one of the things you can believe.

No, they are not. Atheism/theism deals with the question of belief. Agnosticism/gnosticism deals with knowledge.

Lol, no, an atheist says there is no god, an agnostic says there maybe a god so I'm not going to say there is no god. An atheist takes a stance, an agnostic sits on a fence just in case their wrong they have an excuse. I am atheist, there is no mythical god, would a agnostic say that?

You are a clueless one. An atheist is someone who does not believe in any god, like Buddhists or most non-religious people. An agnostic is someone who admits they don't know, there are a lot of agnostic theists and agnostic deists as well.
