What's Next: Who will be the next LDS Church president?
“The result was overwhelming support recognizing the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles as the authorized leaders of the Church, specifically with the keys to act as the First Presidency and with the power to reorganize the First Presidency.”
ST. GEORGE - Upon the death of its president, the transfer of leadership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is usually an orderly and peaceful process. via TheSpectrum.com

The question I want answered is why the U S Flag is being flown at half staff for this dead Prophet who did not serve his country.
Soldiers fighting the fight in Iraq whom become mortally wounded do not get this respect. What a disgrace to the flag. |
|
If you read the flag code the Governor of a state has the right to order the falgs in his stte lowered. While in the past it did not include the death of Military personel (I use this out of respect for non Army personel as Soldiers are army only) it has been changed to that the Governor can order the falg lowered for fallen Military personel. IOt is recomended however that it not be lowered for every KIA aas this could lessen the significance of the act. Also when we Lower the flag on Memorial day and Verterans day we are lowering it for them. |

Correct. The President and the Governor have that power. However, for a religious leader who never served in the military nor in public service?
Our military members deserve more respect than that! |
|
Again The code does not say it must be a politition or military personel. The flag was lowered through out the contrey for the Pope who was only a erligious leader never served in the Armed forces was not a political leader and was not an American. Lowering the flag is not in violation of the U.S. Flag code. |

I know, lets write to our politicians and have Mormon Remembrance Day. After all, the Mormons are just as important as the men and women being killed defending our freedom(s).
I say the church sustain a Black Prophet. But we all know that will NEVER happen. |
|
Because as the Prophet of God, he has done more for our country than any other living man. Read the Bible bud. Whenever God has had His Gospel on the earth, He has led that Gospel through the hands of Prophets and Apostles. I pray for the soldiers on a daily basis who are stuck fighting George W Bush's political war. Have you ever heard of Veterans Day? I thought this was a national holiday to celebrate and show appreciation for all American soldiers who have fought to maintain our countries freedom or so at least we say so.... |

And yes the day will come when the Church has an African American President. Just like the day will come when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints has over 500 operating temples world-wide and 100,000 active full-time missionaries. Mark my word on that. The Lord's kingdom is growing in large numbers and will not stop. In twenty years from now look me up and we will see if my prediction is correct. And are you really proclaiming that we should show more reverence for a war soldier compared to a Prophet of God? What a joke.

There were a lot of angry veterans (my husband Rocky was one of them), farmers driving through Nauvoo and many non-Mormon locals who wanted to know the same thing. Why, what a disgrace and show of power! Just like Mountain Meadows Massacre America's First 9/11, they believe they are above the flag code. Just another example of in your face by Mormons. |

Theres a HUGE difference between the mountain meadows massacre and 9/11. I think you and rocky are being overly dramatic. What in the hell is so wrong about people honoring their dead? Mormons are not the only one who do that. |
