Please look up Elijah Abel. First black elder & a black member of the 3rd quorum of the seventies in the LDS church in 1830's. sumtin wong wrote: <quoted text> Thanks for your offer to give understanding. However, I have no quest for salvation. I was reared up in a protestant household. My father was a preacher. As an adult I accepted Christ as my Lord and Saviour.(27 years ago.) So nearly half a century I
have been a believer and over a quarter of the century I have been a born again christian. I've study the Holy Bible at length. I am convinced of the importance that the apostle Paul stressed to the Corithians 2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. Christianity does not need all these traditions of men to validate salvation and the gospel. This is what is confusing to those who want to follow Christ. He is presented in so many different pieces (thru religions and denominations) that they find it hard to follow. I will visit your site though. By the way... I thought the 1st black priest was not ordained until 1978? Just reading the Romney info.

Look on you tube and the fundamentalist mormons will tell you that mainstream mormon is a false religion and a white-washed version of their religion. They believe you can not be a God and inherit in the afterlife unless you follow everything. I'm not going to argue this point. They also say that Warren Jeffs was following wha Joseph Smith intended.
The FLDS big wigs like Mr. Jessop says they will not renounce their prophet, that it would be like a Christian renouncing Jesus and that it won't happen regardless of the consequences, i.e. losing children.

Mostly from a historical standpoint, and secondly because of a communications standpoint to a much lesser degree. BUT, we'll never see the end of organized religion. Why should we? Why does everyone think we need to have EVERYONE believing and thinking the same way? When in history, has this ever happened and it was good? People NEED religion. Yeah, I admit. I find it annoying that certain people think Im going to burn in hell, but I also find cats annoying, so I just ignore them. TOLERANCE people. Holy sh!t, is there a problem with just letting them think and believe as they want? thats All I want in my own life. Lets face it, if have of you had your way you'd be bored to tears, because everyone would think like you and you wouldnt have anywhere to get on your religious high horses, like you do on this forum.

Hey Tex, Do you know how many people have viewed this on youtube and conntacted the missionaries to take the lessons? Amazing how publicity works whether positive or negitive...Hollywood know this truth very well...when are the Anti-Mormon going to figure it out. Interesting how they inadvertantly help the LDS cause...as evidenced by the LDS Church being the second fastest growing Church this year and the fourth largest in the U.S. It quit revealing where the other Traditional Christian Churches rank in grow....maybe there is a direct relation to their Anti-Mormon activities. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Willie Jessop says they are Mormons who follow Joseph Smith and Warren Jeffs. Deal with it. They are part of your denomination.
I'm about people becoming more informed. You tube may not be the best place, but if you supplement that with reading and other things, one may be able to get a clearer view.
It's still unclear whether Arrow in Texas will be receiving FLDS kids or not. Carolyn Jessop was there to help the workers understand what kind of issues the kids would have.
Some are saying they should have removed the men from the compound and let the mothers stay there. Can you imagine the FLDS men giving up their power over the Eldorado Ranch without a fight?
Are the women going to run the cheese factory and concrete plant, weld, build and whatever else the men do?
Aren't they supposed to just cook, clean, teach and make babies in the FLDS structure?

It is in oil country and there is drilling close by. Apparently the owners of the property reportedly do not have the mineral/oil rights. Oops.

Inform Me Please wrote: <quoted text> Thanks tex. Who DOES have the mineral rights? Is it known at this time? All I read was that there is a row of wells leading up to the yfz ranch and that the owners of the yfz ranch do not own the mineral rights. Also, did you know the ranch is about 100 miles from Mexico. Does that give anyone cause to pause? Any idea where the guys went who fled the ranch? So, when do the 128 or so children return to the YFZ Ranch and will those cases be closed? Does anyone think they would really let CPS workers on the property to do any home visits or supervision?

Inform Me Please wrote: <quoted text> Thanks tex. Who DOES have the mineral rights? Is it known at this time? Well, the first thing you know ol' Jeffs is a millionaire. His kinfolks said "move away from there" Arizona is the place you ought to be (in jail) so he loaded up his Red Cadillac and soon he did flee

You want equality the the first thing you have to do is dump these man-centric organizations who deem women servants and "vessels" for children. I figured that out when I went back to church and joined a group. Men who were not my husband or any relation to me were ordering me to bring food to the groups and quoting the Bible as the reason it had to be done that way. They tried to put me in the kitchen at the church every day to prepare two meals. They tried to plan my Sundays for me and what I would be doing as well. Then came the ruling from the Pastor that if you were at that church, you HAD to go on one of THEIR Mission trips. Those Mission trips are 1,200 bucks per person and you are giving free labor. My spouse said it seemed cult-like even though it is supposed to a mainstream kind of deal.. It was actually my husband's denom. He has said he is leaving his childhood church denom and that he is very disappointed. Live and learn. It was creepy to me how the other husbands dominated their wives and they had no say. I can see why church attendance and membership is dwindling.
