Ah, i know that one.
Let's see what a scientist and torah rabbi states on this issue:
quote:
The Torah is absolute and immutable, and there are many examples of how the Torah reflects a deeper scientific wisdom. Here's one:
The verse says: "[King Solomon] made a molten sea of 10 cubits from rim to rim, with a round circumference, five cubits in height, and a 30-cubit line of circumference." (1-Kings 7:23, 2-Chronicles 4:2)
The verse describes King Solomon's pool as a circular structure with a circumference of 30 cubits and a diameter of 10 cubits. Thus: 30 divided by 10 equals 3. This value is considered a very primitive approximation of Pi.
Historians have generally attributed the first close approximation of Pi to the Egyptians, in their construction of the Great Pyramid, as described by Abbe Moreux in his "La Science Mysterieuse des Pharaons" (Paris, 1923).
Now let's look at the writings of The Vilna Gaon (18th century Lithuania), who writes:
In each of the two Biblical verses describing King Solomon's pool, the word for "line" is written differently. What is the possible reason? If we take the gematria (numerical value) of the two spellings, we find something very significant.
The word "line" in 1-Kings 7:23 is spelled Kuf-Vav-Heh, which equals a numerical value of 111. The word "line" in 2-Chronicles 4:2 is spelled Kuf-Vav, a numerical value of 106.
If you calculate the ratio of these two values to four decimal places (1.0472), then multiply by 3 (the biblical value of Pi in its simple reading), the result is 3.1416 - the precise mathematic value of Pi, correct to four decimal places.
Many scientists acknowledge the deeper scientific truths of Torah. I recommend reading the writings of Dr. Gerald Schroeder, author of Genesis and the Big Bang, The Science of God, and The Hidden Face of God.
end quote.
As stated before,i sometimes let things slip, given the ardent attempts to educate.

ChromiuMan:
Except of course that Kings and Chronicles were set down 2 centuries apart. To make the numbers jibe, Kuf-vav-heh and Kuf-vav would have to be used within the same book - either Kings or Chronicles, respectively to denote diameter in measure of Kuf-vav and circumference as Kuf-vav-heh. Is that the case?

“Nihil curo de ista tua stulta ”

"Pi" is a name given in the 1700s for the mathematical relationship of the circumference of a circle divided by its diameter.

So no, the Bible doesn't say "Pi", but it DOES express the above relationship (circumference of a circle divided by its diameter), and getting the math incorrect -- or at best grossly inaccurate.

MAAT:
Actually Munk came with that solution.
Based on dropping the superflous heh in speech, or in writing silent heh added to v'kav in 1 kings 7:23, and stating 'line as is in II chron. 4:2.
Gen 1:9 would be an attestation ( translated as shall gather, but we can infer some dam/line)

kaf-vav-heh/kaf-vav would be the only string ratio that works.

Interesting read also as to why the bitul is a nullifier and the 12 th c. CE small-point theory:
https://docs.google.com/viewer ...

The second one, taking line -v'kav as intended, would mean the straight lines of the cube holding the sea/yam.

Evolution is an explanation of the way in which present day organisms have been produced BY several mutations giving rise to changes or leading to demise of species due to biological (pressure) expressed adaptation or failure to adapt IN competition for environmental advantages by means of parasitism or symbiosis directed towards short-(health and productivity) and longterm (health and productivity spanning generations) effects on the viability of populations as a whole.

Stress and thus pressure, no matter what the origin is causal in changes, but i wonder if it should be in my general definition of evolotion.
Reasoning like that i would say: "yes".

reg. Christine M.

The following is supposedly an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid-term exam paper.
The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well.
Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.
One student, however, wrote the following:
First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving.
As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different Religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell.
With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.
This gives two possibilities:
(1). If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.
(2). If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.
So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you, and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number 2 must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct...leaving only Heaven thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."
THIS STUDENT RECEIVED THE ONLY "A

Well today after hours combining if finally found this one:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3...
Acknowledgement of Ling's work was essential.
Ho, Abbott a.o.
Schrödingers early proposal can be upheld: living organisms are indeed quantum coherent and can be regarded as macroscopic quantum systems.

Insufficiënt coherence primary cause for cancer and genetic defects, which develop in a non-specific progressive way.

MT theory i.e. the concept of the Na+/K+'pump'(that received a Nobel price) is WRONG.
For this reason of once being lauded it is still in all textbooks but needs a major overhaul.

Coherence is not all. A complex of reactions can be observed.

Coherent Behavior and the Bound State of Water and K+ Imply Another Model of Bioenergetics: Negative Entropy Instead of High-energy Bonds

Special water.
Why are we not aware? Because bio-photons work faster over the lattice structure we have. Unlike mathematics, physics has to work with tangible real life.
Fascinating read. Revindication of Ling.
quote:
7.Finally, Ho [49], pursuing the idea that coherence ought to be reflected in its structural organization down to the atomic and molecular level, went to the polarizing microscope and indeed directly observed the structural coherence of entire living cells, even organs in living organisms, proving that Schrödinger’s early proposal was fully justified. Ho [49] and Abbott [112] reviewed the indications that living organisms are indeed quantum coherent and can be regarded as macroscopic quantum systems. Recently, the existence of quantum coherence was directly measured in several in vitro experiments on parts of the photosynthetic apparatus [113-116].

In view of all these lines of evidence, direct and indirect, and the strong theoretical foundations from so many different independent approaches, which all point in the same direction, the coherent behavior of life can no longer be dismissed. Moreover, applications are quickly being made, particularly in diagnostic and therapeutic medicine, as there are increasingly strong indications that the lack of a sufficient level of coherence is the primary cause of cancer [117]. Genetic defects appear to originate later and secondarily as a result of insufficient coherence, which in a non-specific and progressive way destabilizes molecular and gene regulatory networks [117]. Despite all this evidence for coherence, together with the evidence for adsorption and polarization of water and adsorption of K+ to cell-matrix proteins , there is a major persistent obstruction to the uptake of these data by general textbooks and university courses. This obstruction is the persistence of MT. Therefore some additional evidence against an important aspect of MT, the concept of the Na+/K+ pump, must properly be given.

6. Evidence Against the Concept of Pumps
The lines of evidence discussed below are not against the existence of Na+/K+-ATPase, nor against the main steps of its working mechanism as it is understood at present [27], but against the way of thinking about this enzyme/transporter as the pump responsible for the steady state concentrations of Na+ and K+ in cytosol.

Evidence against the pump hypothesis properly includes the following.:

see thesis.
