I grew up in the Jehovah’s Witnesses during the 70’s and there was a room openly called “the Spanking Room” in our Kingdom Hall. While I was very young I still remember the meeting announcing that the renovation of our Kingdom Hall was complete and now included a Spanking Room with a sound system so mothers would not miss their meeting while beating a child! More amazing was the meeting about a year or so later: the brother on stage said we were not allowed to call the room The Spanking Room anymore because it could give non-Witnesses the impression we beat our children.

Sure, haven't you seen our's? We even have leg shackles and whips if they don't set there and listen.

Stay tuned for more exciting news from the "dungeons of horrors". Set like a good little puppy and don't get the carpet wet with your drewl.:-)

BA...
Think about it for a second.
1: Lets assume that there actually WAS a "spanking room".
Do you honestly think that an announcement would be made that the spanking room now has speakers so you can listen to the talk while beating your child.
Honestly.
I know how you feel about the WTS but really ponder on that statement and then, using your own logic, let me know if the O.P. sounds like he is being honest.

I'm sure he is kidding, BA. Far be it from me to defend the Watchtower, but there is no way any kingdom hall would openly advertise the existence of such a room. Think of the effect it would have on first-time, non-JW visitors - all that love-bombing the JWs try on them would have little or no effect if they saw a room labelled in that way.

I have seen children beaten by their parents at the hall I used to attend, usually for the terrible "offense" of making a noise during the meeting, but it was usually done openly, not in a separate room.

We had a room for mothers to take their young children at our hall, and it had a sound system. It was known as the second shool room, obviously used on TMS meetings. It wasn't a spanking room, but may have been used as such. I really wouldn't know, I rarely went in there apart from TMS nights.

We had a nursing room in our hall no windows but speakers built in that was the place my mother took me and beat me a few times for not sitting still and looking directly at the speaker. I don't mean getting out of my chair I just mean being a little wiggly after sitting for so long and looking up at the ceiling seems quite silly to hit a child for that.

I am not kidding. I remember the announcement like it was yesterday. It came after the prayer at a Friday morning Book Study (that was held at the Kingdom Hall).

I do not want to influence the poll too much so I am keeping this response short.

That's why I ask , are you serious , it seemed pretty way out there so wondered if they also may have a torture chamber that was not a serious statement as some less intelligent wannabees may have supposed it to be .From what I see on here they may need a room for the nuts they attract to keep them calm and under control .

If they do have such a thing I hope the law gets wind of it .

What is wrong with spanking a bratty kid, I have never seen such rooms. As long is you aren't knocking teeth punching, pulling hair etc.I don't see anything wrong with a lil small smack on the butt.I don't even think people spank their kids anymore because if u do its considered child abuse, nowadays. I think children and teenagers are running the country but that is just my opinion.I see more teens and kids disrespecting authorities, and even hitting the parents. Some even go as far as to kill momma and pappa.

My kids are quit respectful and I have NEVER laid a hand on them It's is called parenting you must be young and imature to hit a kid show a lack of maturity. If you think it is ok spank someones kid in public and see how many people call CPS on you. Being violent to a kid is being a bad parent period!

A child, in the situation described, might well "remember" the name as 'spanking room'. It is hard for a 2 year old to grasp the concept that "it isn't a 'spanking room', it is a 'library'---it isn't a spanking room, it is a 'cloak room'." There are people raised,'in the truth', who might well remember the room where they were punished for not being tiny Adults as "The Spanking Room".

Every room in our Hall has speakers, including the restrooms.

Jimi,
The poster very clearly said that the announcement was for the "spanking room".
Not the library, coat room, school, bathroom, ect.

I am not playing word games here.
Do you honestly think that an announcment would be made concerning a spanking room?

And why do you think that is Yuni. I think it is because Adults can't controll ThemSelves. IMHO.
Spanking should be considered child abuse...because it is child abuse. I don't think children owe their parents the right to abuse them anymore than a mother owes her husband the right to abuse Her.
