If the Jehovah's Witnesses come to your home how do you react?

Are you polite to them?

Do you accept their literature?

Do you attempt to share the gospel of Christ with them?

i was nice but will no longer open the door. i feel they do not know the truth and to push themselves on others with this org.. not religion and seeing the lies they are told. i feel badly for them.
we have a smurf decoration up so i am assuming they will not be here or anywhere in this area.

it is too hilly and i do not know of anyone who even opens the doors. so no more not after what i have learned. and if a man came to the door.. how do i know he is not a sex offender????

i pray those who fell into the trap will be able to leave and not lose the love of their families and friends.. no religion does this.. only sects or cults similar to the Scientology.

and to say bestiality and homosexuality is not a reason for divorce is sick

I would like to add to UNchained's questions to ask:
1) "How often (if any) do JWs knock on your door?"
2) "Have you asked to be put on the 'do not call list (DNC)'?"
Thanks UNchained for the excellent thread questions and I hope you don't mind the additional questions as I am not trying to hijack your thread just really curious in addition to yours since I do pioneer hours and fluff out on 1st Saturday.

I'm glad you posted those questions and would also like to respond to them...

1) "How often (if any) do JWs knock on your door?"

ONE time in the last 8 years. The territory I live in is a different territory than where my former kingdom hall is located. I didn't know who the JW (singular) was. He and 3 other JW's were distributing Watchtower materials which I assume were invitations to an event the Watchtower was sponsoring.
They were all working alone and covered the street in about 5 minutes... all except the JW who put his literature in my door. I opened the door as he was turning around and handed him the literature. Then, I asked him to explain who he was. When he said, "Jehovah's Witness" I asked him about the first century church and how are the JW's patterned after it. When he started talking about the Governing Body I asked him to explain why some men came down from Jerusalem to Antioch and started preaching a heretical doctrine. He gave me that "deer in the headlights gaze" and then I asked him were these men who had come from the religious center of Christianity part of the first century Governing Body. The poor JW didn't know what to say.

2) "Have you asked to be put on the 'do not call list (DNC)'?"

No.

I enjoy having a visit from JW's but sadly, it has only happened once since 2004.

Why don't they work the street I live on?

I am home all day long and never see them.

When they come to my mental institution they have to register their name and why they are there. Most of the patients do want to talk to them. The witnesses have many of the same mental characteristics of the patients.

Since I am da, I usually do not answer the door, but most of the time they skip my house. One time I answered the door and talked to a very nice woman for quite a while. I told her that I was da, and didn't want to get her in trouble, but she stayed. She returned a few more times, but I just didn't want to get involved and didn't answer the door or just wasn't home.
I have seen the Witnesses maybe 4 or 5 times in the last 14 years. This is a different congregation and it has moved twice, and I have no ties to this one.

When I was a little girl one of the Elders had a tape of Bro. Franz Gilead talk where he slams the concept of the GB.....I remember how the Elder agreed on the scriptural merits but endorsed a body approach over the singular authority of Knorr.......I wonder if he is still a JW and what he has made of all that has happened since those days in the 70s?
I am certain someone has been assigned your street. I am certain that the Sisters assigned are probably doing exactly what I am doing....sitting in their group at a break-spot keeping warm (it is really cold today because of the high winds), chatting away and goofing on the interweb while giving a silent witness by having the WT/Awake/BT in the center of the table and each of us have one tab opened with jw.org , occasionally referencing something posted about family, children or couples.
I commented on another thread that many JWs have figured out the numbers game the WTS has set in motion by reporting average or above average hours and having little to no response to the Truth equals the end is nigh, like really really really nigh.
It's 56 here and on Saturday it was 63, Sunday 73.

I haven't seen any JW's on my street since 2004 and haven't found any of their Watchtower magazines stuck in my door since then either.

Family and most of my friends don't want anything to do with me..

Still.. I wouldn't hold a grudge..

I would be polite.. If its hot out I'd offer a bottle of water.. And if its cold I'd offer coffee :-)

I used to auxiliary pioneer.. take part on hall builds.. Was a MS (appointed at 18)

Now I work two jobs and I'm into bodybuilding..

I read two or three chapters from the bible a day.. I'm still a spiritual person..

Maybe not to a JW.. Because I don't read the magazines anymore..

I haven't had any JW's come to my door since I don't go to meetings anymore, and it's been a while. We just stopped going, and not one call or stop by to see how we're doing. Feel the love.

The last time I said "Jehovah's Witnesses, yes you are the people that said I didn't need to go to college because Armageddon was coming". Then I shut the door. Usually I am more tactful, but I was in a mood that day

You going back to school?
Have you considered joining www.jehovahs-witness.net or www.jwonline.org
Both sites are frequented by exJWs and conscious class JWs so you would be able to get some much needed support.
May I politely and respectfully inquire what has caused you to depart (emotional strain, social issues, recent doctrinal matters or TATT)?
Bodybuilding is a good hobby, keeps seratonin levels high.

I would like to go to college for a back busting trade!(Bricklaying/stone mason, welding or work in the oil fields..)

Maybe..

I left for a few reasons..

1) I left because JW preach that you have to belong to a religion for salvation..

2) double standards... In some of the talks they talk about how peaceful it is in the org.. Yet you'll get backstabbed! I don't expect perfection.. BUT a religion that preaches that it's peaceful has to be peaceful.. Know what I mean?

I didn't have any social issues.. A lot of people (both JW and non JW ) like me because I don't backstab.. And I try to look for the good in others.. Even though some people treat us like shit..

What is TATT?

I really enjoy it :)

Good way to get rid of any anger.. And I like to see my muscles grow bigger and more toned :P

Do JWs still go door to door? When I lived at my previous address (1992-1999) the JWs came to my door twice. Yet there were three JW Meeting Halls within a 10 mile radius of our home.

My wife and I have lived at our present address since 1999 and we've yet to have a visit from the JWs. I retired in 2009 and so we are home during the week and most weekends so it's doubtful we would have missed their calls. Moreover, according to the Yellow Pages there are 11 JW parishes within 10 miles of us.

Hey, dummy, you left us. We didn't leave you.

bystander no more, are you a congregation pedophile or do you just enable the ones at your hall?

It depends on the area. I lived for 10 years in Colorado, and only had them come by once and leave a flyer. I worked from home, so it's not like I was never there. I think there just wasn't that many JWs in Colorado. I moved back to California 2 years ago and they have been by four times already.

I guess most of Colorado is getting destroyed in the big A, LOL.

Great attitude to have :)
I'm sorry to hear your family and friends have turned away from you. Hopefully, in time they will come around..I know in my case once they knew I was serious and that their stepping away wasn't working they slowly came back around :)
I wish you the best!
