“In a world of jaded emotions and broken dreams this book can reopen the doorways to your heart. Taylor Hansen has created a classic work, one that honors the Christ in all of us.”
Rev. Dr. Robert Ghost Wolf
He Walked the Americas
"We are the Ancients, and our skin is red: with us, the Sacred Color. These are our legends told about the campfires on winter's evenings. When you string them together, remember our great pride. Now we are looking down and our feathers are drooping. Tell the legends so that our young men will realize that the ancestor threads run in many directions. Through the tribes we have captured and with whom we have intermarried there is a red thread which runs back to the Red Land long sunken in the Destruction.

I don't think Christ's ministry was long enough for him to have walked from Israel to the USA and back.

The Mormons claim that Jesus Christ visited the inhabitants of this hemisphere AFTER His ascension.

His ministry went for 3 years so the answer is no. Unless he walked really really really fast (with a few jogs in between lol) but i seriously doubt it

Did he walk to get to heaven? That could have been further than the Americas, don't you think?

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, or as some say "mormon". I hear some people say that we believe we can become gods. Well, don't take that out of context. The old testament says that we are gods, yeah even sons of God. If you believe that you are a child of God, then it should make sense that we are already gods because we are his offspring. If you believe that he did not create us in His image nor are His offspring, then that will make absolutely no sense to you.

The debate then is nothing more than symantics because most people beleive the same thing but enjoy arguing symantics.

God called certain men "gods" because these men were given authority over other men.

So those scripture do not support the Mormon belief, because they pertain solely to authority.

Who are you planning on being "god" over?

Will they be humans who failed at becoming gods, or some alien race?

you also believe that elohim was once a man and that he had a physical relationship with mary and the result was Jesus, you also believe that Jesus and satan are brothers also

"The birth of the Saviour was as natural as are the births of our children; it was the result of natural action. He partook of flesh and blood - was begotten of his Father, as we were of our fathers." (Journal of Discourses, Vol. 8: p. 115)
"Christ was begotten by an Immortal Father in the same way that mortal men are begotten by mortal fathers" (Mormon Doctrine," by Bruce McConkie, p. 547)

God the Father also had many other spirit children, created in His image and that of His Only Begotten. These children include all humans born on the earth. Some of God's children rebelled against Him, and contested the choice of Jesus as Savior.(See D&C 76:25–27). The leader of these children was Lucifer, or Satan. Those spirit children of God who followed Satan in his rebellion against Christ are sometimes referred to as "demons," or "devils." (See Moses 4:1–4, Abraham 3:24–28).

I just finished reading a book about the Mormons and although there are many differences there are also many similarities with the JW's.
They believe they are the only"true" church and all others are false.
They disfellowship and shun.
They also hide some of their history from thr R/F.etc.
Interesting reading.

that is just the tip of the iceberg Dee are you aware of their secret ceremonies that are masonic

and that Joseph smith was involved with the masons

The History of the Church records Smith's entrance into the Masonic lodge in 1842:

"Tuesday, 15.—I officiated as grand chaplain at the installation of the Nauvoo Lodge of Free Masons, at the Grove near the Temple. Grand Master Jonas, of Columbus, being present, a large number of people assembled on the occasion. The day was exceedingly fine; all things were done in order, and universal satisfaction was manifested. In the evening I received the first degree in Free Masonry in the Nauvoo Lodge, assembled in my general business office." (History of the Church, by Joseph Smith, Deseret Book, 1978, Vol.4, Ch.32, p.550-1)

"Wednesday, March 16.—I was with the Masonic Lodge and rose to the sublime degree." (History of the Church, Vol.4, Ch.32, p.552)

"History of the church" is a mormon publication

So Joseph Smith was a mason... your point being?

This topic started with the question of Christ actually visiting the Americas. What are the evidences for and against?

Personally, I see a lot of parallels between pre-Columbian belief systems, and the Jewish culture before Christ. There are also notable similarities between the two immediately following Christ's ministry. Of course, after so much time and confusion, there's going to be a few peices missing.

It seems like there are some Witnesses in this forum. Does the Watchtower Bible Society have any official position on this? What do you guys believe?

A very interesting discussion .Are you Mormon if you said i missed that part . I have had this discussion in the past with another poster , a Mormon himself . I ask this , out side of the BOM where can you find documented evidemce even ever so meger to back up any of the names cities included that these people or places ever existed . There are none in existances . We have found artifacts small yet these shwed a culture did exist .We have found other evidence of peoples and places yet never once ever a clue that those spoken of in the BOM ever lived .Without some proof is it not foolish to assume then the BOM is correct? If your answer is no please explain .

I know that mormons taught that some of the Indians in America were descendants from one of the lost tribes of Israel, problem with that is they have done D.N.A. testing and have found that is a lie, they have actually discovered from the genes that they are related to Asian people.
Also among mormon people are sincere people wanting to worship God aright. But they have been led up the path by a false prophet who was a bigamist and a fornicator. Its very similar to people who are religious, but are group centered rather then Christ centered. had a look at their book, whole hunks come straight from Isaiah and some other prophets and the sermon on the mount is there, and then it goes off into a whole fantasy wanderings. When I looked at the book , I said where it is in accord with scripture I can go along with it, but when it goes off into areas that can not be checked by the Bible ta ta , its left the track. The blokes who came to the house said 'let us pray and ask God to reveal the truth to you." I said no need he has already revealed the TRUTH to me , and it is Jesus Christ, and like most religions they could not accept that answer.
