Ya think?

Here is the word in the "New Testament".

Revelation 19:1-6 NIV

Hallelujah!

19 After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:

“Hallelujah!

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,

2 for true and just are his judgments.

He has condemned the great prostitute

who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.

He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”

3 And again they shouted:

“Hallelujah!

The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”

4 The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried:

“Amen, Hallelujah!”

5 Then a voice came from the throne, saying:

“Praise our God,

all you his servants,

you who fear him,

both small and great!”

6 Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:

“Hallelujah!

For our Lord God Almighty reigns.

The hebrew word Hallelujah is in fact made up of two Hebrew words:'Hallel' and 'Jah'. The second of these words,'jah', means God as in the word 'Yahweh'. So this indicates that the praise is directed to God personally. The first of these words,'hallel', is one of at least seven hebrew words used to describe praise.

Hallelujah, Halleluyah, or Alleluia, is a transliteration of the Hebrew word הַ&#15 00;ְל& #1493;ּי ָה&#14 68; (Standard Halləluya, Tiberian Halləlûyāh) meaning "[Let us] praise (הַ&#1 500;ְּ לו&#14 68;) Yah (יָ&#1 492;ּ)." It is found mainly in the book of Psalms and has a similar pronunciation in many, but not all, languages. The word is used in Judaism as part of the Hallel prayers, and in Christian praise. It has been accepted into the English language, but its Latin form Alleluia is used by many English-speaking Christians in preference to Hallelujah.

Taken from a few places on the net.

I have always been taught it meant, Praise God.

Webster's Collegiate Dictionary: "Jehovah" -- False reading of the Hebrew YAHWEH.

Encyclopedia Americana: "Jehovah" -- erroneous form of the name of the God of Israel.

Encyclopedia Britannica: The Masoretes who from the 6th to the 10th century worked to reproduce the original text of the Hebrew Bible replaced the vowels of the name YHWH with the vowel signs of Adonai or Elohim. Thus the artificial name Jehovah came into being.

The Jewish Encyclopedia: "Jehovah" -- a mispronunciation of the Hebrew YHWH the name of God. This pronunciation is grammatically impossible.

The New Jewish Encyclopedia: It is clear that the word Jehovah is an artificial composite.

According to the Encyclopedia Judaica, p. 680, vol. 7, "the true pronunciation of the tetragrammaton YHWH was never lost. The name was pronounced Yahweh. It was regularly pronounced this way at least until 586 B.C., as is clear from the Lachish Letters written shortly before this date."

Only a cult, but it's a cult.

Jesus Christ is not Jehovah.

Only in the crazy mixed up world of Christendom.

The Bible does not say that.

And there is NOTHING wrong with saying hallelujah or in English "Praise Jehovah!"

Jesus Christ is Jehovah. He is not Jehovah in the crazy mixed up doctrine of the JW's...so sad...but expected.

Read your Bible...(a non-bias version), from beginning to end, and pray...pray...pray....sincerel y pray from your heart, to know the truth. If you want to know the truth about God, and know Him personally, He will show you.

The why are so-called "Born Again" Christians divided on this issue?

Some say Jesus is Jehovah and others say that the Father is Jehovah.

Do you born-agains have different Jesus'?

The Jehovah's Witnesses JESUS is little, weak and DIFFERENT from the Jesus of the Bible! 2 Cor. 11:4.
Their Jesus is simply AN ANGEL. J.W.'s DO NOT WORSHIP Him.
From whom does Jesus accept worship as God?

From the angels. Hebrews 1:6 (see the N.W.T. from 1950 - 1970)
From the disciples. Luke 24:52
From the believers. John 9:38
From the saints in glory. Revelation 7:9-10
From everyone eventually. Philippians 2:10-11; Matthew 9:18; 15:25
Proof positive from the Greek language!
Compare Matthew 28:9,17 and Revelation 22:8.
Jesus comforted those who worshipped Him. Matthew 28:10.
He did not condemn them.
Only the true God is to be worshipped! Matthew 4:10; John 20:28.
FACT: The Bible Teaches That Jesus Is Not An Angel ...

No angel is or can ever be called God's Son. Hebrews 1:5-6
The world is not in subjection to any angel. Hebrews 2:5
Jesus did not take on the nature of angels. Hebrews 2:16
The angels of God never receive worship. Colossians 2:18;
Revelation 19:10; 22:9
All power is given to Jesus, in heaven and earth. Matthew 28:18
Jesus has the name that is above all names. Philippians 2:9-10
God will not share His glory with any other. Isaiah 42:8
Jesus (not an angel) shares His Father's glory. John 17:5
Is the voice of the archangel the voice of Jesus? 1 Thes. 4:16.
Jesus comes with a trumpet. He is not the trumpet! Jesus comes with the voice of the archangel. He is not the archangel!
The One coming is the Almighty God! Revelation 1:8.
He is Jesus! Revelation 22:20.
Not one verse of Scripture says, "Jesus is Michael" or "Michael is Jesus"!
Jesus is stronger than Satan. Satan is stronger than Michael. The power of the false J.W. Jesus is what?
-- unable to face Satan alone. Jude 9
The power of the Bible Jesus is undiminished!
-- Indisputable power over Satan! Matthew 4:10
