So I have been studying with my JW grandma for about 3 years and I have believe pretty much all of it because I have never been exposed to other religious teachings. She always tells me how the NWT is the most accurate bible ever and the other translations have removed Gods holy name and mistranslate purposely to support the Trinity doctrine.

She always tells me how Christendom is blood guility and would be destoryed at Aramgeddon, they use some scriptures in revelation to prove that if you refuse to leave the other churches you will be destroyed at Armageddon, which to me is just a fearful as the Hellfire doctrine. I have been snooping around the internet looking at NWT possible errors and beginning to realize that maybe this isnt a bias free translation, mabye there is scriptures translated to fit the JW anti-trinitarian theology. But I just shrugg it off and think what the WT tells us, that those websites are Satan himself trying to decieve JWs. I looked up John 20:28 where Thomas calls Jesus his Lord and His God, it even says it like that in the NWT!I was amazed and asked some JWs online and they said that he said it as an expression like we say Oh MY GOD!but it didnt make ANY sense to me. Also the word structure in John 1:1 has me to believe that "a god" doesnt sound right with the overall context of the passage. I'm really starting to have doubts if they are the true relgion and I find the shunning practice to be horrible!I dont think Jesus would shun someone and never look at them just because they made some mistakes. I have been looking "Apostate" websites and I tell myself this is all lies, but in the back of my head I'm thinking what if some of this stuff is right, what if the NWT isnt an accurate translation, what if the JWs has predicted false prophecies. All these questions, I know if I did choose to not become a JW and join another relgion (Methodist) I would most likely be shunned by her and some of my other family members.

I'm only 16 help!I've even been having thoughts of attending this big methodist church thats really close to me!I have been in it before when I was little and would like to go in it again to see if I like what they teach. I'm just confused because my grandma always makes me feel guilty or I'm not "progressing spiritually" fast enough and its really bugging me. Now shes talking about me becoming an unbaptized published but she never asked me what I wanted to do...My parents are both non relgious btw, my dad was an unbaptized JW but he left and moved out.

I would be happy to have a study with you and go through all of your concerns with regards to the NWT, Apostate misinformation, the biblical practice of not associating with unrepentant wrongdoers that are baptized Christians and anything else you want to discuss about the bible.

I checked out all the apostate and opposer arguments before becoming a baptized Jehovah's Witness. The result was i am even more convinced that JW's are the true religion from everything i researched. If you would like to study the ins and outs of everything to do with the bible, JW's and the information that you may have seen on the internet then feel free to private message me and i would be happy to go through it all with you.

I would call the Reverend of that Methodist Church and see if you can set up a bible study with him...and show him what published works your grandma is studying from with you. Show and tell him your concerns and see if what he says is any different that what you have found out on your own.

But I would get a good Bible (not the NWT nor NIV) get a good word for word translation bible and start reading the Gospel of Mark and John.

Also, since you are under age, your parents can tell your grandma not to study her beliefs with you until you are of an age of consent. That might buy you some time until you know for sure in your own heart what is right.

May God's grace you with knowledge and understanding.

Please tell me if someone was going to go by the bible 100 percent would they practice some form of shunning in the light of what the bible says here:-

1Cor 5:9 In my letter I wrote YOU to quit mixing in company with fornicators, 10 not [meaning] entirely with the fornicators of this world or the greedy persons and extortioners or idolaters. Otherwise, YOU would actually have to get out of the world. 11 But now I am writing YOU to quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner, not even eating with such a man. 12 For what do I have to do with judging those outside? Do YOU not judge those inside, 13 while God judges those outside?“Remove the wicked [man] from among yourselves.

Or would they disagree with what the Apostle Paul wrote?

Regardless of whether you believe in the bible or not. If you accept the bibles/Pauls council then the one true Christian Religion would in some way implement the practice of shunning suggested even if the method may be up for debate to some correct?

Hello, thank you for your reply.

What really is bothering me is JWs explaination for John 20:28 where Thomas answers Jesus and says "My Lord and My God" and Jesus never rebuked him for it.

Also can you explain these

John 8:58
NWT-“Jesus said to them:“Most truly I say to you, Before Abraham came into existence, I have been””.

Literal Greek Text-“Said to them Jesus Amen amen I am saying to you Before Abraham to become I Am.”

Why has the NWT violated their own standard and paraphrased the Greek words ego eimi (I AM) into I have been? After all, the NWT translates ego eimi accurately into I am in versus 18, 23, 24 and 28. To answer that question, one needs to read Exodus 3:13-14 in any approved bible translation. For example, in the King James Version (which Jehovah’s Witnesses used prior to 1950), Moses asks YHWH (LORD) what His name is. God’s answer is “I AM”. This presents a problem for the Watchtower, because Jesus is claiming to be the I AM, the Almighty God of the Old Testament. Notice the next verse in John 8:59,“Therefore, they picked up stones to hurl at him....”. The religious Jews of Jesus’ day knew very well who Jesus was claiming to be. They acted as if Jesus was a blasphemer (see Lev 24:16).

Philippians 2:9
NWT-“For this very reason also God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every [other] name....”

Literal Greek Text-“through which also the God him put high up over, and he graciously gave to him the name the over every name....”

Why has the Watchtower inserted the word “other” in the NWT? Again, this conflicts with their theology that Jesus is a lesser being than that of the Father. If the word “other” is taken out of the text, the verse says that Jesus has been given the highest name in all the universe. This puts Jesus on a level equal with Jehovah God.

Colossians 1:16-20
NWT-“because by means of him all [other] things have been created....all [other] things have been created through him....Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist....”

Literal Greek Text- Suffice it to say that the word “other” is not found in the Greek text.

Why has the Watchtower added the word other four times in the above passage? Without the word “other” present, the text says that Jesus is the Creator of all things. By sticking the word other in, Jesus becomes Jehovah’s “master worker” who was created by Jehovah and was then used to create all other things in existence. Interestingly, the very first edition of the NWT’s New Testament didn’t even bracket the word “other” to show that it was added to the text. Later editions became somewhat more honest. However, many times when the Watchtower quotes the above verses in their literature, they remove the brackets. We see that again, the Greek text contradicts the Watchtower’s own theology.

Thanks and God bless, I await your answers

Not associating does not not mean shunning esp not the hurtful WT shunning which breaks up families. Can you imagine Jesus telling a parent to shun their child or a child to shun a parent when you are to honor your mother and father. Jesus never shunned anyone even the sinners.

Paul said not ASSOCIATING with fornicator or a greedy person or an idolater or a reviler or a drunkard or an extortioner. The WTS disf and shuns for many non-biblical reasons.
.
As late as 1947, the Awake described the practice of excommunication as an unscriptural, pagan practice, using Hebrews 10: 26-31 to show it should be left to God to judge individuals.

The child's father has a legal right to see her. He should go to family court. There is no charge and no lawyer is needed.

Sounds like dad is out of the picture.
Grandparents have very few if any legal rights.
I would recommend Gramma not give up.
As the child ages into adolescence the Jehovah'sWitness cult is a living hell.
Keep in touch how Gramma can, the grandchild will want out of the evil cult

I suggest that you pray to Jesus since the bible says this about Him:

2 Peter 1:1
To those who have obtained a faith of equal privilege with ours through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ.

They were stoning Stephen as he called out:“Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!”
Acts 7:59

Greetings.

Thank you for your concern but Jesus gave us the model pray to pray to the father (Yahweh/Jehovah/LORD)

I do not accept the Trinity yet so I cannot pray directly to Jesus.

Where does the bible say to shun people who just don't want to go to the kingdom hall anymore, people who leave because of various things bothering them about the organization? The bible doesn't say that anywhere. Where does it say that someone who repents should be shunned? It doesn't but people who are sorry for the sin are disfellowshipped ALL the time and then shunned for a year or more. Where does the bible say that? Again, it doesn't. Man made and cruel rules for a man made, cruel family destroying cult.

A good place to start for youre own peice of mind,is Steve Hasaans books. He belonged to a high control cult for years and was set free. The similarities between the JW religion and all high control cults is.undeniable. Would a loving Father use fear and control to get people to worship Him? As far as praying to Jesus,Stephen plainly did ,and their is NO evidense he started prayimg to Jehovah in the.middle of the prayer,no manuscripts on the planet,no scholars beleive this it is a WT lie. Also the JWs prayed to.and worahipped.Jesus until the.late50s and now call it idolatry! So they were idolaters for four decades after Jesus approved them as the truth.Keep praying and using youre God given.mind.
